Sydney have kept Alex Johnson on their main list whilst he undergoes his fourth knee reconstruction. Hasn't played since the 2012 grand final.

Mora just needs to play the old "I wont play if I can't play for Freo" card, that should scare everyone off.

There's absolutely no chance anyone else will take Mora before us. Just the resulting negative publicity would be enough to turn off other clubs.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Does this mean Mora goes from a wage of say $350k to a base rookie wage of approx $75k?
If so, he may need to open that "Kale Delights" Vegan Sushi shop Pollyanna is talking about.
Im not sure you could expect him to attack rehab with the unhinged full time focus it deserves on $75k...

If he's been paid $350K per year to give us 26 games over past 5 years while the club provides for 3 knee recons with all medical expenses, Physio, conditioning ... he's had a pretty good ride, time to pay back the investment I'd say to young Anthony.

fair point.
On a side note - I wonder what the clubs chicken and salad roll and Mt Franklin bills would have been like since say Pav debuted in 2000? No wonder those boys have such extravagant holidays these days - They would pay for nothing at the club and are there most days

Ok so apart from the $350K per year wages, all medical expenses, Physio, conditioning for 3 knee recons AND Chicken and salad Rolls every day, what has Anthony given to the FFC?

A reason to keep pushing yourself because, as Mick Thomas said "there but for the grace of God go I". You just never know when a career-ending injury might occur. So, the answer for me is: *a source of inspiration.

*I wrote this while listening to Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra's " 'Piphany Rambler" - truly inspiring in itself. I was caught in the moment. Back to where you were.

I am sure he has been wrapped to pick up all that free medical treatment from the club, as far as contributing to the club, how about all the work he has put into getting back from those injuries. I am sure he has not been on $350 000 for the last few years, I thought he was on 1 year extensions.
On another note what the hell has Jed Adcock done wrong, wasn't he Captain at the Lions for a period. Him and Watson would be well worth a look and also thought Steinberg showed some potential.

What did they wrap him in? And was he rapt when they did it?

Where does the $350k a year come from, he has undoubted talent but given his injuries and the fact he has only been on 1 year contract extensions while in rehab he was probably on the minimum salary (around $120-130k) for the last few years. The average AFL salary is around the $350k mark but that is skewed by the guys on $1 mil, the median salary is closer to $250k a year. But to answer the original question, yes he'll get a pay cut going onto the rookie list but it'll be more like $50k a year than $250k a year.

He's gotta be the best walking talking train and be professional story going round. Because you never know what's round the corner.
He will be worth 2 chapters in the "Way to Go" sequel.

In addition to PK's comments, only about one third of AFL listed players are paid over $300k/yr.
Rookies salary can be discounted for purposes of the club's Salary cap (30-50%). So Freo may be able to afford to pay Mora more as a Rookie than they would if he was still listed as a senior. (I'm not sure of all the details with this, especially if a Rookie player is elevated to the Seniors later in the season).
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.
