A footnote from the continuing flow of
pre-release fixture teasers on the AFL website - this one about Carlton not getting ANY Friday night games in 2016.
As is tradition, Collingwood and Essendon will play in the stand-along (sic) Anzac day blockbuster at the MCG.
Fremantle and Port Adelaide have also won the rights to host games over the Anzac weekend.
"Won the rights" as if we should be grateful for the largesse, or that there is some sort of FIFA bidding process in place.
"As is tradition" - only since 1995. And since 1995 - yes the very same year - Fremantle has hosted the Len Hall Game as close as possible to, or on, Anzac Day.
"Tradition" obviously only counts if you are in Victoria.
