Agreed.
Barlow is worth more than McCarthy anyway. Barlow can be a match winner on his day and thats something McCarthy has yet to demonstrate his capabilities in that area.
2 First rounders are are overs as far as I'm concerned and while you have to pay overs for a contracted player, their demands have reached absurd levels. We would be better using our draft picks, putting extra time into Tabs and Pearce and taking McCarthy as a second or third tall in a few years when he will come very much cheaper.
In the meantime, there are a couple of interesting kids in the GWS academy that they won't be able to draft, so its gives us a look in there. The exodus from that cheap joke of club will continue anyway. Well past time the the AFL stopped artificially propping up clubs that will never be viable. All they do is soak up resources that should be put to better use.
