With all the chatter about the most potent midfield in the comp next year and the potential to fianlly snag a target man at the front (although looking more unlikely by the hour), I look to the rear and conclude,

MJ - Great if we could get a full season out of him and the side step dummy is removed from his repertoire.
AP - Great potential but a lot to ask from a young player to fill the shoes of AA Luke.
AS - A fill in at best IMO and not the large bodied back-man we need at HQ.
Fist - Think I have more faith in ZD than most Dockerlanders, however I thought Jack Anthony was going to be good so wtf do I know!!.

Looks shaky to me.

So who else?

Have mentioned this before and agree with you. The only other player of any size is Tanner Smith and his form at Peel has been rather underwhelming.
Definitely need to draft more.

I think we have options as tall defenders

Ibbo -will and can play taller
Tabs - has been used there and with a Black (or Apness or long shot Mcarthy/Casboult there) may be released to learn AFL footy more from the back line (ala early Pav)
Chopper - played down back lets face it forward line work wasn't crash hot this year
