TOPIC: Should Pav retire?

Corporal Agarn Should Pav retire? 8 years 6 months ago #29

Corporal Agarn
Why would he play on if he's still at 34 going to be the number 1 go to target in the forward line. Get some decent key forwards in there to take the heat off him and he might think about it.
Of course this should have happened years ago anyway.

I think Pav provides strong leadership and security to the younger players both on and off the field. Play on Pav.

Pav was managed through the season and still couldn't get up come finals time. Pav has hidden the flaws in our list management its time to deal with the problem.

If we are relying on a 34 yr old then it goes to show how bloody desperate the situation is.
Unfortunately we are and it is so please play on Pav!

He's just holding out for more money. I'd sack him to send a message.

Definitely play on.

Firstly; He is a highly skilled user of the footy and great decision maker (and while his outputs may have dropped off a little in recent seasons, his ball use and decision making is as sharp as ever).

Secondly; If I don't see Matthew Pavlich lift that purple streamer adorned cup I will never forgive the world!

Absolutely Shane, Pavlich needs to show some loyalty to Fremantle.

I think Pav will play on. He's hungry for that cup and he can be managed to play key home games as well as the odd critical interstate game (incl the GF of course).
The fact that we have now got 7? spots to fill leans to the fact that the club is aware he will stick around (although I would bet that it is on the insistence from MP that he gets some help with a McCarthy up forward to reduce the week in week out pummelling).
On a completely separate question: How many ways can a club build it''s list? If we are giving up say 2 draft picks this year plus possibly another player to get the trade deals done then how many draft pick s will we have left to cover the 6 or so vacancies on the list? Can someone enlighten me how deep the picks go and then what other ways you can bring in players (ie mature age etc) and what limits there are on that? I'm sure it's out there somewhere but thumbs are too lazy to google it!

Try him down back - i reckon he would be awesome as that loose man down back. Might be a bit slow to play on key forwards though.

He's written it in his book, so I hope he remembers this when making his decision:

I hope he plays on.
