Both great servants of the club, albeit Creepy let himself (and the club) down a bit at the end.

I'll never forget Duffield's late sealer against Geelong in 2010. There haven't been many times the Freo crowd have been louder than that exact moment (if anyone has a link, I'd love to watch it again....shane made an excellent montage of the game, but I'd love to see that moment with the audio). I actually had an interview the next day, and I had all but lost my voice. The bloke interviewing me was from Melbourne, and reckoned he could hear the roar from his hotel in the city.

I guess Ballard's biggest problem was that he was getting pushed further and further down the midfielders pecking order. In that sense it makes more sense than the Duffy delisting as I see Crozier as a flight risk/trade bait (and rate Duffy's potential higher than him anyways) and think having him on the books is required to add to the potency available on the attacking front. Perhaps they might be eyeing off someone like Shane Yarran.

Pav could well stick around with or without McCarthy. If it doesn't work out for him in 2016 he can always retire during the year knowing he gave everything.

Congratulations to Duffield and Crowley on excellent careers. Both played their entire careers in purple. They went through some really tough times when the club was struggling and gave it their all to bring glory to the club. For this, they get our respect and admiration.

With regards to Crowley, I think it's pretty clear that the Roly game plan evolved enough this year to eschew a week-in, week-out tagger, and that if a tagger was necessary, someone still on the list could do the job. For the early rounds of 2015, we were both defensively and offensively good. The challenge will be to keep it going for a longer part of the season.

ROTV, Crozier just extended his contract, so he isn't a flight risk. Might be trade bait, but I don't think Duffy was particularly defensively minded, which doesn't suit the game plan, like it or not.

Nice work Duffman and Crowls, great contributions over a long and at times difficult period. Ballard unlucky. Not sure if Moller ever had it in him, but wish them all well.

I think in 2013 & 2014 Freo recruited 7 players each year, so 8 is a lot to find in 2015. Especially if Freo still needs to trade early draft picks plus players out, to entice a McCarthy (or Hogan) and/or Bennell to Freo.

I dearly hope the Pav can find it in him to go another season. If we are lucky enough to score Bennell and he plays to his abilities, then I can see Pav getting some much improved delivery in the forward 50. That may be enough to entice the likes of Hogan (or another quality forward) back to Freo for the 2017 season.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

As disappointing as it might seem for ballard, if you want to be really realistic, here are the players he was up against for a spot. I for one would rather see blakely in more regularly anyways, and with bennell hopefully on his way, that will likely push one more of mzungu, c pearce, suban onto the list for peel.
Mzungu
Blakely
Langdon
Weller
C Pearce
Suban
Morabito

Deluca gets another crack on the rookie list, meaning there is 1 more spot on there currently, unless they intend on upgrading tanner smith back to the main team

Given that we have had McPharlin, Crowley, Duffield, Silvia retire, we should see the teams average age drop considerably for the next season, especially if the only ones we trade in are bennell and mccarthy who are under 23

On a related note, I thought all draftees got the minimum 2 years?

The comments re: Duffy's defensive side were spot on. I didn't see any of Ballard's play. As for Moller, I don't think he was as effective as his potential might have suggested; he was playing a position where several other players are way ahead of him, and it didn't look like he developed fast enough.

Mellors, true he signed an extension, but he didn't sound as keen on it as others have. Maybe he's not an overly enthusiastic person by nature, but it just seemed like he wasn't as committed so the I think maybe he thought more of the paper he signed than what was written on it. Or maybe I read too much into it myself.

On Duffy's defensive side, I'm not too sure whether that was lacking, but if it was I guess i forgot that we valued tackling skills over goal kicking in forwards.
