Jooter - damn you for letting facts get in the way of a good story. Research is not my strong point, I'll admit that. Still, I have no doubt the NFL wanted to make as much money out of the ProBowl as the could, hence my argument stands.

According to Wiki, the venue for the SuperBowl is decided by the NFL and the stadium must have a minimum of 70, 000 seats. Usually the newest stadium is chosen. I imagine the stadium is not so important because the TV rights for the game dwarf the gate receipt.

I guess the conditions for a Perth stadium GF will only be ripe when there is a large pay-per view income stream for the GF.

I still think W.A could muster the sponsorship $$ to make up for the 40, 000 less attendees at the 'G. I mean, if the "Giants" cost Perth $5 million and was considered an outstanding success, I think we could justify $10 million for the big dance!

Every team has a list of 40 players. Rather than seeing some of the younger talent waste away, teams will be forced to dip in much earlier and more frequently. It would open up a deeper talent pool and the add much more value to a lower draft picks IMO.

Some sides struggle to get 22 fit blokes on the field as is not to mention most of them carrying niggles and injuries. Just look at Pav and Fyfe last week.

Cut out the waste of time pre season games, increase the squads by 4 or 5 players with the money gained by TV rights and all of a sudden it is possible. Coaches may have to alter training and playing styles to suit a longer season, but they will adapt. The players are professional now, and don't have summer cricket or baseball seasons to conflict with the footy

Take out the byes in the middle of the season, the players are training 11 months of the year now, and if you train like you play, replacing some of that training with playing is not too big of a step to take.
Oh and maybe cull a couple of teams and come back to a 14 or 16 team comp.

The EPL is 38 rounds, plus the top teams play euro leagues as well as the FA cup, all up some teams play 50+ games a season, before you all jump on me, yes I know our game is harder and much more physical and yes I also know a 2 hour bus ride is less taxing than a 4 hour plane ride, just pointing out that in a profession sporting era, it can be done.
It would mean the death of Saturday arvo footy but that's pretty much gone now anyway, may mean interstate teams like freo would end up staying all week in another city, playing Sunday then again the next Thursday or Friday night. Think it is entirely possible with an extended list and possibly slightly shorter qtrs.

Sorry Prince me old Cocker, but since Interstate teams have featured in Grand finals at the G they have won 8 of 13 (That was 8 of 12 prior to the feathered f#!k up this weekend). So we in fact should go in favourites on those stats alone.
