Especially when the first quarter has been our strength all year, while the last has been the Hawks.

3 QTR time from the Round 3 derby. Seriously, who on earth, pluto and mars would have thought that the e-girls would have survived longer than us at that very moment in time?

Mitchell's knee Round 15. Should have been more seriously looked in to , cost the comp what would have been the most spectacular season by an individual in history...and us a flag. Rosebury in the 1st quarter would be next.

There was no turning point. Freo butchered basic footy yet again tonight. It was 2013 all over again.

As for umpires, at the end of the games I assistant coach in junior footy, we are always asked about giving feedback for the young umpires. Each week my only feedback is consistency. If you call it one way, you have to call it the other for the whole game. No use reversing how you make a call after the first quarter as the ump has now changed the direction of the game. I saw a Freo player try a Hawthorn move tonight of standing next to the opposition on the mark. The kick was taken again by Hawthorn at the discretion of the ump. 10 minutes later, Hawks did the same thing and it was play on. Consistency.

When our Admin says nothing but Barich, Embley & Readings say on air that Freo did not get one 50/50 decision and there's no doubt the umpires were the difference perhaps we should push for more aggressive administration. Ross said nothing about the umps after the game, if that was Clarkson or Roos they would have been livid

Some important momentum changers in tonight's game: Mayne's miss in the first qtr would have been 3 goals straight.
2 silly frees get the Hawks back in the hunt
In the last qtr the two dropped marks by Sheridan and Mzungu was a kick in the guts - game over
The crowd were shattered and the players never recovered from there.
But I loved watching the boys being cheered off the field.

Sheridan's was unforgivable and under no pressure, but you're kidding on the Muzungu one. It was a terrible pass that sat up so long two Hawks players were able to come in an attack him while he was at full stretch resulting in an easy spoil.

Not one Hawk player touched the footy on the Muz one, just ran into Muz and belted him.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Surely it's Barlow missing the goal early in the last quarter. He kicks that and we win,

Apart from the non-free when Walters was dragged down without the ball and laid upon, 15m out, 9 points behind - it was Walter's pay on and missed shot at goal (soon after Barlow's missed set shot) that killed us. He was on fire and so were we - but that miss hurt.

We allowed the umpires to get Hawthorn over the line by missing 3 set shots within 20m of goal and several other gettable ones whilst Hawthorn couldn't miss from anywhere.

1. Mayne missing the goal from 30min the first quarter. WOuld have put us 3 goals to zip up.
2. Heart as big as Phar Lap but the shot on goal after the siren at half time that missed (just) by Griff was a heart breaker.
3. The goal after the siren at 3/4 time by Hawthorn was a stake in our heart.
4. A little bit of luck. We got jack tonight. Very sad.

When Hawthorn ran out onto the field and didn't have their stupid, shiny, power ranger outfits on!
If they'd played in their away guernsey like they're supposed to and we were in angelic white (not nearly black in the night light), it might have been different.
