Mayne's missed goal, Tab's dropped mark, Griff's missed goal, Barlow's missed goal, Walter's missed goal, Sheridan's dropped mark and Mzungu's dropped mark, two dodgy umpiring decisions for Hawks first two goals.

Many many many turns.

Griff's non goal hurt. Whilst the goals he kicked came at vital times, he was in no rush at all yet was starting his run up ten seconds after taking the mark. The siren's gone, he should have taken all the time he needed to compose himself.

As for potential turning points, every time freo kicked two goals in a row the concept of Freo players having backs or shoulders went out the window, and the definition of holding the ball was relaxed for the hawks players. Further, when freo had some momentum and had the ball tied up in our half, the game was inexplicably stopped due to Luke Hodge lying down fifty metres off the ball. Even after he sent the runners away but continued to lie down, the game was held up. It was clear from the umpiring that such a courtesy would never have been extended to a freo player. In fact, when an umpire took out Sandi with a dangerous slide that would see any other player reported it was "no worries."

In hindsight, the turning point was the naming of the umpires.

Something happened mid-season, around the bye-week and after the Richmond loss. I'd love to see the season debrief.

It was a brief debrief. They decided it they carried on playing like that, they'd have no KPPs left before finals.

The season became Rolyball writ large - you've got your lead, now play ugly conservative and defend it.

De-listing Sam Menegola.

But we Subi fans are eternally grateful (a very thin silver lining to an otherwise dark cloud)

Mzungu's dropped mark WAS NOT a dropped mark. It was a free kick not paid. ( actually, I think there was 3 free kicks that could have been called then.)

Menegola is another interesting one. He was always in the best players at WAFL level but never got a run. We decided we'd turn him into a tagger when we were using Crowley. Then, hey let's delist him and draft a whole pile more of younger inexperienced midfielders. Then we'll leave them at WAFL level and not play them either.

Third place in the Sandover. We will re-draft Sam this year as a repeat of the hugely successful Micky Barlow experiment.
