Perfect opportunity to say this: Hackdorn has pretty much said the same thing about players, including Pav and Luke, retiring for several years now. I specifically remember him saying the same things in 2013 after the GF loss. He was the first to speculate that Crowley's issues at the beginning of the year were 'mental health related'. He was way off base with that one, wasn't he?. Last week, the day of the Weagles/Hawks game, he 'broke' the news that he had a suspicion that Priddis wouldn't be playing. Funny thing is, he must have seen the same PerthNow article that I saw early that morning.
The fact is, Hackdorn does not have any credible sources; he just makes his 'educated' guesses which he describes emphatically to make it sound like he knows something. Believe me, he knows nothing. Nada. He just guesses and passes those guesses as opinions.
The thing is, all players will retire someday, and on that day, he'll be right. Until then, he's a hack who does not have any more inside information than any other journalist in this town. He just has a platform and he uses it often and speaks loudly like he has some authority.
