I recall a few years ago a thread about this kid, now at Port. According to here, he might be available.

The former South Freo colts player has struggled with OP since going to Port and with the prospect of them getting Dixon from GC and Butcher likely to get another contract, his future is up in the air.

I'm thinking we grab him along with Shultz for a second round pick. Our medical staff got AA Luke over his chronic OP so I'd back them in to get this kid right.

Thoughts??

Certainly seen him play. He was good enough to play league for South Freo at colts age before being drafted to Port.
I was hoping at the time he would get through to our second pick which unfortunately he didnt.
You must have a short memory of you cant recall the hype around him at the time.

Get him out of Port, Get him home to Freo, strip 5 kgs off him and he will be a star.
He and McCarthy will be a great duo in years to come and it shouldnt cost us too much

Always wondered how he was going at port and what would happen.

For starters I'm not sure I would be throwing a 2nd round pick for a player who was pick 30 back in 2012, who hasn't played a league game in 3 seasons on a list and has been struggling with OP and endurance issues as listed on his player BIO. If Port aren't going to offer him a contract, If I were Freo I would be saying lets pick you up in the delisted free agents listing, or trade a 5th round draft pick at most, but certainly wouldnt be throwing round 2 pick.

Keep in mind this year McCarthy wants to head west and Bennell is up for trade as well. Pick 2 will be better spent on one of those players than mason shaw.
