Duges - They were announcing it at every gate but I dont think they actually checked.
Worse case, you pay the difference which is only $50 anyway and can be upgraded at the ticket window.
I know one guy that got in on a concession and was panicking he was going to be caught but went straight through.

2013 our concession ticket holders definitely got checked at gate - my kids tickets were used by My Dad (pensioner) and my mate (Dodgy "student") but they were checked. As mentioned there is an option to upgrade at the ticket booth so it's not a show stopper but you might get caught in a queue at ticket booth if you don't do it in advance.

Anyone know if concession tickets get checked at the gate on the day?

In 2013 they checked ours. And can you believe it, but the person who'd registered our barcodes stuffed up and used a junior member's concession barcode (who didn't come ) instead of an adult... I'm looking at you, matto.

The friendly staff at the G, however, allowed us to pay the difference to reflect an adult price. Safe to say we were panicking big time for a while there before it got sorted out.

Moral of the story - have your concession card handy, or pay the diff to upgrade well before bouncedown...

In 2013, we had 2 Adults and 2 Concession Tickets from our Freo Family Membership... and had no drama paying the upgrade at MCG Ticket window to make 4 adults (Just do it early before the crowds).

Very impressed with how easy registration was again this morning: Guaranteed Tickets, Flight Booked, Accommodation sorted... now it is all up to the boys!!!

18,778 members registered in 2013 with nearly 5000 missing out. I assume this year many more will
be registering (even if they have no intention of going) so I think there is going to be a lot of disappointed members.

It says on the registration website that the tickets must be picked up at a Victorian Ticketek outlet. Is that really the case or can you get them from Ticketek in Perth before you go?

My sister registered four of us and rejected the standing room tickets. I believe she chose best available - not standing, or something like that and we're happily registered so far.

We selected "best available including standing" in 2013 and got standing. It was Ok...and that's generous for $150! The standing area was at the back of the bottom level block so had good access to all the facilities and there was a decent height leaning rail. Mum and I got there early enough to secure a good leaning position but man, they pack-em in and it's a long day standing. Still, I've done the same again this year because I've heard more people say they weren't allocated tickets in 2013 and I don't want to miss out. Way up there on the "good problems to have" list.

I phoned the club on Monday to query that and they said that with the upgrade we are guaranteed tickets so option 2 (no standing) would not disadvantage us and we would definitely get seats. Hope the advice was correct because that's what we chose!
