"Zero desperation, lost interest, no effort, doesn't put in 100%, plays like Jane, no mongrel." Most of those can't be observed. They are just what you've read into actions. You know what makes it hard to make second efforts? Being a 203cm beanpole. Based on those descriptions, the best advice would be to frown more when he players, or whack some blokes behind the play.
Our team lacks marking power. Clarke marks the ball more than Griff, despite apparently playing with less effort. He sticks roughly the same number of tackles. Hendrix gives us a couple more effective disposals a game.
Credit to Purple Kit and Jooter, who at least tried to give an actual example of the type of play that upset them. But watch Sandi when he plays forward. Unless the ball is landed right on his head, he has trouble getting to the contest.
As for Hannath, again he looks like he is giving greater effort, but gives us next to no output when he plays. Certainly way less than Griff and Zac.
If perceived effort was what selection was based on, we'd have a team of Nick Subans and SCOSs. We'd also lose every game by 100 points.
