i shouldn't have to be hoping for that. I should be confident my team can keep up its awesome attacking and skillful displays of wiping the opposition away like soap flakes.

I guess it sum it up when you wish your team was playing the way west coast are, not like your own team is.

Winning rather than losing is hardly soul destroying.

I just wish Freo would play the rest of the game the way they play the first quarter of virtually every game.

The games they lose (except NM) are games they are behind early and never bridge the difference.

They don't have to win ugly but this seems to be the case now. IMO it stems from having no KP forwards apart from a 33 y.o. on his last legs being double- or triple-teamed for the whole game.

We moved the ball on quicker today, we took the long kick into the forward line when there wasn't anything presenting. We put enormous pressure on Sydney all night. We won. What is there to complain about.

There are a lot of pretty boy football teams in the AFL. They have all been a lot less successful than Freo this year. The deeper we go into the finals, the more successful the high pressure game we play becomes. Get used to it.

Did you watch the game Davo?

Pavlich was one out all freaking day. One out and couldn't bag a biscuit. No one doubles or triples him anymore because they don't have to. He's a 33yo bloke who has to man the FF to midfield zone because Lyon still hasn't developed a forward structure that will work consistently; it seems entirely dependent on the fortunes of Walters and Ballantyne to create something from nothing. He's gone back to defence at all costs and hope the turnovers deliver opportunities.

He didn't win a flag with the saints that way, and we won't win it with different cattle either.

I was feeling really good about the '13 prelim against the Swans. We bedded the game by half time and looked like we could win the GF. I'm not anywhere near that feeling this time. I'm also starting to realise why all the pundits talk us down. No one likes the way we play the game, and I can understand why.

The media will go nuts here if we end up in a Derby GF. And WC will smash us on current form. That is a Freo supporters worst nightmare, and it's possible.

I agree. We look a really long shot for the flag. But we're still in it, we're still winning, and if we can make it to the big dance there is no guarantee the day will be one that allows for winning pretty. It could pour with rain, it could be windy as hell. It might just be a slugfest. And if it is i'd have my money on the team that knows how to win ugly.

He's article was about Freo's inability to score enough to win games against the likes of Hawks, Eagles, Swans or anyone who bags a big score, is just another bias reporting. Good work Wallsy. That's why we're in another Prelim with a score of 69 - 60. It's called a winning score.

a quick note to several of the players - Ballas is quite short, so please stop kicking it over his fricken head!!

good to have him back. a few weeks ago, I expressed my doubts about whether his form pre-injury really merited selection. happy to be proven wrong and hope that he, Fyfe and Mikey continue to improve for the next game, barometers, they are. barometers.
