What I learnt was that under pressure we are the same as everyone else. Turnover balls to the opposition, panic handball to a team member who is under pressure. We seem to lack ran and penetration to team members moving into space.

I learned that, according Ch 7 commentators, the Dockers can be "struggling" against apparently superior opposition, even when they have been in front for the entire game.
I also realised that, after having had the opportunity to watch both in action, Margetts is so unbelievable bad at the job of umpiring that he makes Razor Ray look almost competent.

Observations from the matches so far:
i. Walters & Ballas are jets & should be AA.
ii. The Sydney midfield is one of the toughest in the comp and never gives in!
iii. Zac C continues to disappoint with an apparent lack of effort.
iv. Whatever happened to the manic defensive pressure from the 2013 finals series? Today was so pedestrian it looked like half the team wasn’t even trying to apply defensive pressure.
v. We struggled to play well all day but still managed to lead from start to finish and win.
vi. My heart won’t stand another final like that – what with our simple errors, poor decisions and the umpiring.
vii. That the umpires can’t really be that bad – can they? Alternatively they are just cheats!
viii. That a fast, free-flowing game style may be the darling of the commentators but it doesn’t win finals.
ix. Priddis must only be in the wet toast team for show – they improved without him.
x. Even Hawthorn can have a really bad day – especially when they don’t get all the soft free kicks they normally do.

RR, re: Walters, I have been of that opinion for a long time, and last night only further confirmed it. Walters is acting in self preservation, not playing for a free kick. If he was playing for the free kick
i) He would be throwing his head back like a replica eagle/cat.
ii) He would not be looking to fire the handpass out to a teammate or have a shot on goal after being taken high.
iii) He would be dragged by the runner and on the phone to Roly before he could say "please umpire that was a high tackle"

We will never know. They seemed to enjoy the space at the MCG to be fair but because of their ladder position they should have been afforded the best opportunity to progress. They wanted Etihad - permission denied.
