TOPIC: What I learnt: Round 23

i) Brady Grey has a big future ahead of him, kept the likely AA Wingard goalless and kept his feet and composure well.
ii) Some of those young blokes have some genuine pace.
iii) Clarke will not be a Freo next year but Shultz should be
iv) the footy karma gods visited upon Mastiff what the AFL didn't have the ticker too.

i. Barlow's pretty good
ii. If structures meant you could only play 2 of De Boer, Suban, C Pearce and Mzungu, De Boer and Suban get the gig.
iii. Duffield probably earned his spot next week. Anxious wait for Sutcliffe.
iv Also anxious for Sutcliffe because Sheridan went okay too. Especially first quarter.
v. If we go 3 talls in the forward line, A Pearce might miss out to Taberner to partner Pav and Griffin.

Whilst a lot has already been said, i make the following comments:
i. Crozier was very disappointing and IMHO should be thrown up as trade bait if anyone wants him, much better offerings in the twos.
ii. Ethan Hughes was clearly one of our best defenders 22 possessions, 8 marks, 11 pressure acts, 295 meters gained, 2 intercepts , 68% disposal efficiency
iii. Tanner Smith also showed promise as a tall defender with 17 possessions, 8 marks, 8 pressure acts, 281 meters gained, 76% disposal efficiency.
iv. Brady Grey with 20 possessions.
v. Weller, Langdon and Blakely all showing glimpses but not as impressive as ii, iii and iv.
vi. Jacob Ballad who for 1 quarter had 6 possessions, 100% efficiency, 3 clearances and 4 pressure acts and 2 intercepts certainly demonstrated why he is one of Peels best week in week out and should have been playing from the opening bounce.
vii. Finally Taberner, for me he showed what he did in the early rounds and deserves to be in the side against the Swans!! I wont comment on Duffield as this was obviously his last game for Freo.

RM, I've watched a lot of Peel games this year. Two,things stand out, that some of,the youngs ones have the innate abilities required at AfL level. Blakely, Pearce and Weller come to mind. I just think sometimes this year we've had some players who have been kept in the bigs and should have been dropped. It's all about skill level and application, and if are having a bad patch bring in some young guns for a game or three.

Ime surprised they don't want to leave, given Peel never inspires much confidence in me, particularly the coaches address.

Just looking at the power replay and I'm even more impressed than I was yesterday, sure they made some mistakes and all but its a credit to the club that they could bring in so many newbies and play so well. Couldn't have done that without the WAFL aligned system.
and Suban is as hard as (concrete) nails.

Noddy, I wasn't referring to leaving Peel, I was referring to no one wanting to leave the Freo system.

Yeah they held it together well for a fair part of the game. Blakely playing next year is a must, Fyfe can go forward for longer periods.

Suban is a machine and a highly under rated player.

i) We have a lot of talent coming through. Exciting times ahead.
ii) Never book anything in for September before our finals are scheduled. Never. I'm going to spend all week rebooking things.
iii) Love Ross' game plan. No injuries. You're a genius.
iv) Love to hear the footy medja back Ross for resting players and then rubbish Brad for the same thing.
v) Looking forward to a trip to Melbourne soon.
