TOPIC: What I learnt: Round 23

Walter the baker
The last "What I learnt" for the year!

-Not much to learn from playing the seconds.
-I think that we've erred by investing so many games in Crozier. Some the the other youngsters appear to offer more: Gray, Weller, Langdon, Hughes, Blakely
- our young talls have a lot of work to do to be AFL ready
- I'm glad the junk time round is out of the way and we can get serious again.

Bring on the finals.

That Walter has stopped watching the ends of the games after someone beat him to the What I Learnt post a few weeks ago.

Totally agree with WTB, Crozier should be better then this considering his chances. Clancee has had a shocker and Clarke too...
Shero and Barlow've been ok.
Commentators are doing their usual carp, but I understand they are trying to pretend it's a real contest...
2 mins to go - if we keep it to under 60 I'll be happy....

Zac Clarke - all potential....no heart...doesn't deserve a game the finals. Even moller would have had more than 4 possessions today....

I learned that A or B team, the umps make up stuff to award free kicks that dont exist and ignore many frees that should have been paid.

Also Fox commentary team cheer on sides playing Freo with zero idea of professionalism.

Tabs had a good game as did Barlow and Cowboy.

We have a few youngsters with bright futures

Edit: Port supporters are as stupid and feral as slime supporters. Port could raise the IQ of its supporter base by going back to the tarpaulins

That Weller, Langdon, Hughes and Grey all deserve a game ahead of Crozier.

That Ballard got more disposals in one quarter than Crozier and Clarke got in 4 quarters.

That some of our experienced players should hang their heads in shame.
That the comments men on television are a bunch of knobs.
Zac Clarke did not seem to give a rat's today, he has no agro and does not seem mobile anymore.
Jack Hannath will make a good backup ruck to Griff when Sandi retires.
We need to get AFL games into our youth ASAP.
Our young guys play with a lot of natural flair, I hope this is encouràged and not crushed by the game plan.
Jay Schulz is worth a two year contract at the right price.
Anyone who thinks Tabs is a bad kick needs to watch Butcher he is the pits.
There would appear to be huge up side to just about all the young guy's who played today.

heard on the radio today, that Griff is unlikely next week due to hamstring, obviously Hannath will replace him on his effort today.
Crozier and Clarke now tradeable Duffy not up to AFL, Rest of the kids well done on their effort lacked poise but Ross would be happy with effort.
Some of the senior players maybe not with us next year, Duffield to retire, Clancee and Deboer worked hard but needed to deliver????.
Thought Tabs and Weller very good as well as Hughes, impressed with Grey Blakely Smith probably all just need experience..
Basically 14 out, 69 points a fair margin but thought it should have been less 2nd quarter hurt us.

I learnt that Suban runs around getting aggro and throwing his body in, but really doesn't get the ball very much for a midfielder.

Actually I didn't just learn that. Today confirmed it. I was expecting him to step up today with so many young guys coming in.

i) Hendrix's trade value has diminished significantly with that performance...just had a torrid game today...
ii) A Pearce still needs Elvis and Co to help him develop, looked a bit more panicky without the cool calm veterans, IMO...
iii) There really should be a mercy rule for the final round of AFL...that last quarter was hard to watch, especially with only one team really giving a rats about the result...
iv) Like WTB said, bring on the real season...it's time to see whether we are the real deal or not..
