That's all well and good Shane, but the AFL brought in a law to ensure teams don't use team selection policies to manipulate ladder positions a couple of years ago. They said at the time it would be rigorously policed or some such wording. The first time their is an occasion to enforce it they cave in to popular Victorian opinion. 2 questions; Why did they bring in another law that they have no intention of enforcing unless it benefits selected clubs, and having brought it in, why have they not enforced it. If the Roos are forced to select their best available players, and they deliberately play to lose, I think they can still be charged with tanking or bringing the game into disrepute.
I agree it IS a stupid rule, was made as policy on the run because of a Freo selection policy, and has come back to bite their a$$. But having made the rule they should enforce it or rescind it, not keep it for when they want to slam Freo, Crows, or Port, like they have done with the accidental head clash rule and a few others.
