So we are resting half the team this weekend but how about the best team for the first final?

Tough decisions to be made but I reckon this is a decent side:

B: Lee Spurr, Luke McPharlin, Paul Duffield
HB: Cameron Sutcliffe, Michael Johnson, Garrick Ibbotson
C: Nathan Fyfe, Stephen Hill, Nick Suban
HF: Danyle Pearce, Matthew Pavlich, Chris Mayne
FF: Hayden Ballantyne, Jonathan Griffin, Michael Walters
Foll: Aaron Sandilands, David Mundy, Lachie Neale
Bench: Tommy Sheridan, Michael Barlow, Matt de Boer, Clancee Pearce
Sub: Tendai Mzungu

Could opt for another tall in Alex Pearce or Zac Dawson to replace either de Boer or Clancee but I reckon the team looked best early in the year with a smaller backline.

Cam Sutcliffe is now looking doubtful due to injury so Duffield may yet get a chance.

I think you are right - if we do go for a taller backline then Duffield would be omitted and a good chance Zac D will come in instead of Alex Pearce based on experience which is a bit of a shame.

Silvagni unlucky but he hasn't played enough footy this year.

Taberner also a bit unlucky but could come in if we want to exploit a team like West coast that has a depleted backline.

We all know that ZD has many flaws. But he's in our best 22, and have been since he came to the club. I thought he blanketed Hogan on the weekend and he's got more finals experience than any current Freo player. So forget about what we'd like him to do, just appreciate what he can do.

Its a great 23 King Kep, but you'll need to pick your sub from the four on the bench.
Mzungu will have to watch.
I agree about the Duffman - Zed will get the gig.
We need to keep a space for Creepy come PF time .......
especially if we're playing the Hawks.

You've got 4 interchange plus a sub KK which the AFL might have a few issues with!

I can't see Mzungu, De Boer and C Pearce all making the best 22. At best 2 of them play but I suspect only 1 will make the cut. Tendai's disposal has not been great over the last month. De Boer competes with Walters and Ballantyne (if fit) to hold his place.

I think they will play an extra tall up forward against Sydney meaning A Pearce plays (assuming Sydney finishes fourth). He may be unlucky after that.

Zac D is a lock so long as he's fit and not suspended.

Looked like ZacD was spoiling to get himself suspended at the weekend and he seemed to get flustered on quite a few occasions when he couldn't pick out Hogan. Spurr had to cover for him a number of times until ZacD got the right match up.

Admittedly we lost both games, but Dawson was fantastic in last years finals series. The big question I have is whether Ballantyne should come straight back in. He should have been dropped earlier in the season befor injury saved him.
