I may have mentioned this before on another thread, but some years ago my wife and I attended a Freo game versus St Kilda at Etihad stadium, where we scored a great win. After the game, as we were waiting for a tram to take us back to our hotel, we heard a sound in the distance and realised it was the 'Freo' chant. The sound grew louder and louder, and then, at the top of the stairs leading from the stadium, there appeared several hundred Dockers fans in a solid mass, their chant echoing around the streets. It was a spine tingling experience that we will never forget, and even the St Kilda supporters at the tram stop turned to look and were transfixed by the sound and the sight of the Freo faithful coming down the stairs. This kind of experience is what makes being a Freo supporter so special and unique.
And now we have to put up with an absurdly loud, cheap, recorded version thought up by some misguided marketing executive (guess who!). Someone who just doesn't understand what we are about.
