I wonder a little bit about Hogan as well (would still take him though obviously) in that he seems a bit wooden in his movements to me and I wonder if he will be one of those players that peaks when still young because of their body type i.e. a fully grown man at 14 and better than anyone else the same age. A bit like Jakovich or even Daniel Rich.

Annoying to see Dixon is apparently all but going to Port. Good one Bondy.

The Fist was at home in one on one contests. When Hogan ran him around he was not as comfortable, but luckily Melbourne's delivery to him was pretty poor.

Dawson seemed to play on Hogan most of the game, got inside his head, and didn't find much, and generally towelled him up I thought. 1 of Hogans goals was from a lucky snap and the other from a free kick that could not be blamed on Dawson.

Which is food for thought for the many who want to trade the world for Hogan and at the same time bag Dawson every opportunity they get.

Hogan kicked two goals. The first was when Dawson did the team thing by leaving Hogan and going to pressure the running ball carrier, Hogan got an easy over the top and snapped the goal from 45m. Hogan's second goal was a dodgy free kick where Dawson spoiled him with his left arm around his waist, something most of the time gets missed (for other teams). Hogan ended up having to go way up field just to get a couple of chest marks on lead ups wide and 60m+ out from goals. Nevermind the 10 1%'ers to Dawson (Equal 4th highest in the league for Round 22).
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

Don't be in too much of a hurry to write Hogan off - he can play.
He's just not getting a go in that side and Melbourne looked ordinary. Hogan ended up on the ball and in the backline there for a while but didn't look that interested to be fair. in a half decent side he would be awesome.

What game were you guys watching?! The ball never got forward for Hogan and Dawson barely had to do a thing all day! The few times they did have a contest Hogan won otherwise Dawson had a couple of other defenders to help. You're clutching at straws to use that performance as proof Dawson is of some use!

I was impressed by the way Dawson was completely unable to hit a team-mate target from 2 meters away giving Melbourne their third goal. At that point I would have traded him for a bag of twisties and a can of coke....and felt like a winner on that trade.

Yeti, I think you are talking about Melbourne's 2nd goal. Melbourne's third goal was kicked by Bernie Vince which came from a stoppage where Barlow cleared it and got pinged for out of bounds intentionally.

Melbourne's second goal was kicked by Watts with about 8:18 left on the clock Q2.
From the centre bounce (with 8:46 on clock), Mundy was pinged for a throw, which clearly was a handball. Freo's clearance was brought back Garlett took the free, kicked it to Mitchie mark 55m out who sent it i50, loose ball get by Suban, Suban had space and time, looked upfield, had nobody, turned back towards Melbourne goals and handballed to Dawson who had 3 Melbourne players within 5m of him. Suban then pointed Dawson to go to Sheridan (who was behind Dawson). Dawson under pressure sent a soft handball to Sheridan who was contested by a bigger body, Hogan picked up loose ball, tackled by Dawson, Hogan got handball out to Watts who snapped from the boundary line under pressure for a goal.

From what I just saw in slow motion on replay, the umpire's dodgy free kick was the first thing to blame, then Suban, then Dawson, then Sheridan. Anyways, that's what the TV replay showed ... just saying.
