And with that, a top two finish is all but guaranteed. Nice.

Massive result. Have a nice trip to Perth, Hawthorn (not).
WCE saving all their boos for you.

Well if Port can beat Hawthorn twice, including in Melbourne, there's no reason why Freo can't.

In a perfect world we either need to win 2/3 of our remaining games or west coast have to drop one, the most likely at that would be against the crows when they travel. But tonight sure is a good start to just about wrapping up top 2. Still need 1 more win to do that.

Certainly wouldn't want to be sweating on winning that last one against Port if they fronted up like they did tonight.

We want first crack at the Hawks, while we've got the second chance.

If that means I have to support the Bulldogs on Sunday then do be it.

The Hawks has got Brisbane and Carlton in the final 2 rounds, so it appears highly for them to relinquish third spot to the Bulldogs purely on percentage, even if they win their final three games...so if we want to face the Hawks first up, we have to finish second...

I would've thought that finishing first would be much preferable, as it would mean that we would most likely play our qualifying final on a Saturday, and give us a full 7-day break coming back from Adelaide, even if the team going there would most likely be most of the Peel team...and it would also mean that the Weagles will play on the Friday, giving them a 6-day break between games...

Side note - can the surface on Subi Oval handle back-to-back games for both the qualifying and prelim final rounds?

They just lost to Port Adelaide. Don't go locking anything in yet.

Hoping Clarko walks back from Etihad to the Holiday Inn after the presser tonight.

What a great win and a big upset. So much for the experts tipping a ten goal easy win to Hawthorn. I feel like last week's loss now means a lot less as far as top spot goes. Now looking forward to a Freo win and the bitees lose.

I still favour us dropping our remaining games (and hoping that Bulldogs drop one), so that we can rock up and smash Hawthorn at the MCG in the QF. That should put an end to this nonsense fear of Hawthorn.

Given that Port did the non-Victorian top 4 teams a real favour tonight, and if the remainder of the games for the home and away season fall the way of my predictions, I see the top 8 as follows:
1. Fremantle
2. West Coast
3. Hawthorn
4. Sydney
5. Bulldogs
6. Richmond
7. Adelaide
8. North Melbourne
I have Freo winning one game only at home against Melbourne;
WCE will probably only win their two home games - against Bulldogs and St Kilda;
Hawthorn will win both of their remaining games against Brisbane and Carlton, and
Sydney should win their 3 remaining games but if they drop just one, then the Bulldogs and Richmond are still in with a chance to grab 4th on the ladder.
Of course if the mob up the road drop the next 2 games, then the ladder can see them possibly drop as low as 5th, with Hawthorn, Bulldogs and Sydney moving up to 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
I can't help think that a 1, 2 finish for both WA teams will give us our best chance at reaching the GF and a real tilt at winning on that 1st Saturday in October.
