Maybe the eagles medics realized the implications of sending him back out v what they put out in their medical report.

I've watched the incident a few times, and the more I see it, the more I like it. Some numpty decides that it'll be fun to block you as you trot across the oval, so you snot him. He'll think twice before he does it again, as will his team mates. It is the sort of undisciplined thuggery I'd expect from the Hawks, and I like it.

When I first saw it as a replay on the big screen I honestly thought it was a hip and shoulder. The movement looked like a hip and sholder until his elbow slips upwards in what I thought was a pushing maneuvre, like everybody does these days.

Is it possible that is was a simple slip up and not a deliberate elbow to the cheek/jaw?

I was getting mighty frustrated with the commentators when SCOS threw up the anti-block device and copped Cripps a beauty. Gold ol' Jonathon Brown was playing it down and even mentioned Cripps had gone the block, but had to soon change his tune when he realised where his paycheque comes from.

The TV broadcast showed nothing of Cripps holding his jaw. Yet David King and co were very quick to talk it up as a broken jaw. David King was saying it was "viscious", and saying Cripps was on the bench "holding his jaw", "in real trouble", meanwhile the TV is showing Cripps leaning forward clearing his nose and still showing no indication of any serious trouble to his jaw.

And now, like all good propaganda, the vast majority, including the tribunal will have the seed sown and believe that SCOS got him with a viscious intentional 70m off the ball elbow which (could have) broke his jaw. SCOS will now end up getting the same penalty he would have got, if he had have broken Cripps jaw. Anything over 4 weeks will be another massive injustice ... which is what I expect.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

It was trial by media as soon as it happened. Jonathan Brown is about the *only* unbiased, tell-it-as-it-is commentator at Fox Footy, and he was spot on when he first mentioned it. You can clearly see SCOS following his man across the ground, as the kick out from Hurn was leading left to the boundary line (until it was smothered). Cripps went the cheap block, and didn't realise he's a foot shorter than SCOS and got caught out when SCOS lifted to protect himself. Clear as day from the footage, yet the numpties in the comm box went straight for the narrow viewed shot and made out SCOS went for a 70m dash off the ball to snot Cripps. Wish the AFL would take these numpty commentators to task. They are bringing the game into disrepute as much as the Slime!

Silvagni has been charged with striking. It's worth noting two very pertinent notes listed under 4.3 Reportable Offences in the Tribunal rules for 2015:

(B) CLASSIFICATIONOFCERTAINSTRIKES
For the purpose of these Guidelines all Players should note that the following factors are considered when determining the classification of a Striking offence:

Intent: Notwithstanding any other part of these Guidelines, the fact that an act of striking occurred behind the play or off the ball or during a break in play or with a raised forearm or elbow is usually conclusive that the strike was intentional

Impact: Notwithstanding any other part of these guidelines, any Careless or Intentional strike which is of an inherently dangerous kind and/or where there is a potential to cause serious injury (such as a strike with a raised elbow or forearm) will usually not be classified as “Low Impact” even though the extent of the actual physical impact may be low. Such strikes will usually be classified at a higher level commensurate with the nature and extent of the risk of serious injury involved

It will get graded as Intentional and as medium impact at the very least, but probably high, given that intentional & medium can be assessed by the MRP and given 3 weeks.

Yes, SS, but you failed to quote the unwritten bit:

"Notwithstanding the above, we reserve the right to make it up as we go along, in order to get the penalty that we want"
