TOPIC: The Ghost of Cameron Ling

I don't condone what SCOS did to Cripps, but I've got deja vu all over again.
Remember when Solly clobbered Ling at Geelong? Broken neck/jaw/mandible or something, reinforced by the Geelong Doctor. Ling would be out for months! Solly got 8 weeks, I think? Ling was back in two weeks.

According to afl.com.au, Cripps has 'a suspected broken jaw'.
The MRP will refer SCOS directly to the Tribunal, as they did with Adam Cooney last week. But, given the Tribunal will now be convinced that it stuffed up last week, SCOS can expect to have his long service leave start straight away. I think we can sign off on his 2015 stats right now.
Still, a good character reference from someone like Rodney Eade might help? It certainly did the trick for Cooney.

Sadly, you may very well have read the situation correctly.

Will be interesting what the eagles medical report is. If they put in a bad report about cripps injury, they should cop it for sending a concussed player back onto the field of play. If they say "no harm done" to cover their medical staff, SCOS gets a fine coz it was "low impact"

Which will it be?

Vickery got 4 weeks for belting Flappers with a clenched fist - lights out and subbed off....Cripps came back on and played the whole second half..If we can get away with 2-3. Id be happy with that.
It may be worth a trip over......they seem to go harder via video link up

With the hysteria around the place, Fremantle have to go in hard defending him on this or he'll end up thrown out of the game.

I liked how the commentators said that with the AFL being unhappy with Cooney's penalty last week, Silvagni will be sure to get a heavy penalty this week. What? He deserves a penalty, sure, but why should he get more because Cooney didn't?

These commentators need to listen to the words that dribble out of their mouths.

If he had a suspected broken jaw, then why on earth wasn't he subbed out? What if he copped another hit in a tackle or marking contest that made it a lot worse. Don't condone SCOS's actions - just stupid - but the heat must also be put on the Budgies doctors and coaching staff for allowing him back on the field.

If you watch the footage, Cripps went for an illegal block on SCOS as SCOS has followed his opponent to the wing.

SCOS just needs to say he got him with an open hand. Seems to get everyone else off from head high hits...

SCOS's problem will be he has a very hard hand.

Cripps should get two weeks for ducking

Not much has been made about how manfully Silvagni battled on after copping that glance to his open palm. Typical biased reporting.

Dead right Lavo, if he had blocked SCOS 60 yards away from the ball while Scos was trying to get to cover his opponent, the call would have been play-on so that's why Scos dished out his own free hit. I don't entirely blame Scos, as I nearly did the same thing to the dog several times yesterday as well.

His argument should be that he went to elbow Cripps' shoulder, but that as an Eagles natural instinct is to duck whenever a Freo player approaches (witness the number of frees for high tackles) the blow caught him in the chops. Accidental on Scos' part, deliberate on Cripps' part.

OK, I'm going full conspiracy theorist. The AFL will realise that SCOS is not that great a loss to Freo. So he'll only go for 4 weeks. If he was Mundy or Fyfe, it'd be 6.
