Whilst we played terrible today for 3 of the 4 quarters Freo won in almost every field of the game stats (except for free kicks but there is no surprise here). However, they lost it in the stat that matters - Goals and Points.

However, there is another stat that matters which most of the AFL world appear content to ignore - Freo with 16 wins from 19 games are still numero uno on the ladder.

The last couple of weeks we have again shown glimpses of how potent a team we can be. I'd feel a lot better if they were trucking along to comfortable and entertaining 10 goal wins, but I need to believe that come September (and hopefully October) we can lay it out for all to see.

I'd like to believe that, I really would. But I think this notion that we are just waiting for the finals and we'll flick a switch & off we go, is wishful thinking. We've been a long way off our early-season form for many, many weeks now. We got trounced by the Hawks and comfortably beaten by a WC team that wasn't even full strength. The two teams below us that we'll meet in the finals at some stage. Playing either one at Domain in a home final is no gimme.
I still believe we'll win the minor premiership but I haven't seen anything in our season from the Tigers loss onwards that suggests we can win the big one.

What was the final free kick count? What I saw today was not surprising. It was the budgies GF. Their intent was greater in the first qtr. That was the game. Fyfe and Johnno are better for the run, we've got AA Luke cooling his heels and Ballas to return in 3 weeks. We're 6 Pts clear on top and you don't win a premiership in Aug. Get a good spot on the grid when the real season starts. Everyone is still catching us.

What game. We won every stat bar 2. Free kick count ( and that is big) and the scoreboard. Drubbing, you're forgetting that the reason we're 6 Pts clear is because our first ten rounds was scintillating. Yeah we're not where we were, but I'd rather where we are now on the ladder. They say the ladder don't lie.

Yeah I can, Drubbing. Trouble is I think only 9 minor premiers, were eventual premiers since the AFL was formed. So not a great stat. What I do know is, we're in good shape, availability and fitness, bar SCOS. With 3 games to go, a healthy list, on top of the AFL ladder, but not playing great, I'll take that everyday of the week. Can you remember at the start of the season, where you thought Freo might be after Rd 20. I can, not sitting on top though.

We lost the free kicks by 32 to 19 so it was really the Awfl dishing out the result they had pre agreed on.
But we did help by making 56 clangers to the weasels 44.
Thats a significant loss of free kicks by the top side of the Awfl.
It doesn't border on cheating, it is cheating. Did anyone at Subi end watch a weazel defender just palm the ball over the line and it was simply "throw it in" in 3rd quarter
I have no doubt im my mind that the umpiring performances are pre ordained,
i'be been watching this tripe for a long time now and I'm just about over it.

Apparently Roly in his presser, had no problem with the free kick count. So 32-19 against is just another day at the office. Similar sought of numbers in the Rich game too I bet. But we move on. As Pav said, we've got bigger fish to fry in the finals.
