Said it before but will say it again, it doesn't say anything about being "under pressure" in the rule.
So either insert those words into the rule or start interpreting it as it stated.
In short it states - A free will be awarded if it is intentional.
For mine the doubt then mentioned should only relate to whether or not it was "intentional".
Keeping the ball alive near the goals = more excitement.

You're under no obligation to keep the ball in play. If you run the ball over the line while you are being chased by someone, you're not necessarily intentionally forcing it over the line, so you get the benefit of the doubt. Hence the references to being under pressure.

The rule was brought in to stop Hawthorn using rushed behinds as a way of milking the clock. The player on his own who walks through the goals when his time to kick runs out. It's not there to force defenders to keep the ball in play.

Stupid rule anyway. You're penalised a point on the scoreboard for doing so, which should be more than enough.

How many other breaches of the rules actually result in a real increase to your opponent's score? None of them. And how many games are decided by just 1 point or so? Plenty.

Abandon the rule and we'll have succeeded in removing from our game at least one grey area that is open to varied interpretation. Same with 'deliberate' OOB too, by the way. If we actually interpreted 'deliberate' accurately, there'd be upwards of 30/40 or MORE free kicks a game for this indiscretion. Just abandon the deliberate rule and have a throw-in (or a free kick if you wanna roll that way.)
