I believe in the footy gods.
If you attempt to manipulate the ladder positions, via your own performances, so that you can gain some advantage as a result of the final ladder positions then you are absolutely guaranteed of something out of your control completely stuffing up your expected final placings or even worse, losing the game for which you gained an advantage. That's how the footy gods work, its what they do and they are damn good at it.
Managing players for the purpose of ensuring the strongest and fittest team is available during all finals games is essential. Intentionally manipulating the outcome of a game for the potential of a kinder finals draw is just not to be done, ever.
Notwithstanding the ire of the footy gods, doing so also suggests that you dont think you are good enough as a team to get the job done, dare i say it, anyone, anywhere, anytime. This is not a thought that should be entering any team members mind as they enter the finals. They are good enough, anywhere, anytime. Let the results take care of themselves and let the mighty freo team take care of the rest.
