Now Shane, that just isn't true.

There was substantial body of evidence, much of which was not even considered by the tribunal as they claimed there was no need after they decided it couldn't be proved that there was TB4 in the TB4 imported from China.

I am not of the view that ASADA bolloxed it up at all. The same 'lack of evidence' got Dank banned for life. Its a pity the tribunal wouldn't consider it against the players.

Also I'd like to know why you state the tests aren't new. It was known at the time that the investigation was underway that there were no tests for TB4. Essendon made a big deal out of that and ASADA said the sample would be frozen for up to 7 years against the possibility a reliable test would be developed....and that was stated at the tribunal as well.

The biggest error ASADA made was allowing the AFL to get involved in the investigation because the AFL has been shown to be corrupt all the way through.

Either way, parroting the Essendon spin won't carry any weight at CAS....and WADA have far more experience at this than ASADA

My understanding of the tests is that someone has produced a research paper which adds weight to a hypothesis that the IGF-1 markers can be linked to TB4. It's not a new test, it's a different analysis and it doesn't sound like something that will hold up very well at this stage. If it does hold up then it means they can directly implicate two Essendon players.

The biggest error the AFL made was letting ASADA be in charge of the investigation. They wasted everyone's time and money.

We will never agree on that.

Anyway, its going to be up to CAS to decide, not the same blokes that scuppered Crowley on zero evidence 'because is the sort of thing he would do' and allowing a former team mate on the jury.

Thats not the sort of thing that inspires confidence in me.

ASADA has acted with a far higher degree of integrity that the AFL right throughout this saga. Its only Essendon spin that they have been incompetent....and I'm not falling for it.

Even accepting your premise, ASADA didn't appeal the decision nor did they ever raise questions of the make up of the tribunal. So they're still incompetent.

Thats absolutely wrong.

ASADA have no say over the make up of the tribunal. Their role was to present the information gathered in the investigation, much of which was never considered.

They didn't appeal because they very competently recognised that a fair hearing would only occur outside the control of the AFL, which is why McDevitt arranged with ASADA to run the appeal. By doing it that way, they saved at least 6 months off the process.

If he was trying to save time, maybe he should have skipped the first couple of years of getting paid to bugger around not collecting evidence gotten it off to WADA in 2013.

By not presenting a strong, credible case to the tribunal they have damaged the integrity of the competition. It was a weak case. If, as you say, the tribunal was fixed, they would have been laughing at how easy ASADA made it for them.

"I think that is unfair on the players and has (happened) right throughout. The players have done nothing but respect the process, they continue to do that, and I think it's just not fair on them."

Neither Essendon or any of their players who lined up for the injections showed any respect for the processes of the AFL or indeed for the game itself nor the members and fans of their and all other clubs in the competition. No amount of whitewash will cover the stain they have left on the game and it is about time the AFL stood up and said so by their actions, not empty words. Why is he whining about leaks during confidential processes? Surely leaks have come from top to bottom within the club. When it suited them. They certainly managed to keep the whole program leak free for long enough.
