Cameron got 2 goals on Dawson.
1 of them was a ticky touch free kick on the goal line when Dawson didn't quite hide the fistful of jumper that he had, well enough. I could find a similar action by an opposition player against Pav or Sandi virtually every week which is not paid a free kick.
The second goal was in the last qtr when Dawson ran off Cameron to spoil what was certain to be an uncontested mark to a GWS player about 60m out. Dawson got there in time to give it the double fist in to the corridor. The loose ball went to GWS players who then passed it inside 50 to Cameron who scored a goal. Had Dawson not left Cameron and gone the spoil, that looked like it would have most certainly ended up a GWS goal anyways.
I also saw Cameron get another easy uncontested mark when Dawson ran off him to provide pressure on another GWS forward. Hill should have picked up Cameron but left him unchecked.
Dawson got suspended for an elbow to Cameron in the first qtr during a 10 second passage of play where Dawson beat Cameron to a loose ball, punched the ball to McPharlin, Dawson then gets a two handed shove in the back from Cameron. Dawson follows up and again wins the loose ball in a contest with Cameron, gets a little scrag from Cameron when on the ground, so Dawson makes his point in the argument with the elbow and unfortunately cops him in the nose instead of the body. Had Dawson been Hodge or Judd there would have been no suspension.
Yep, I'm onboard the A.Pearce bandwagon like most/all of us here, but I doubt A.Pearce would have done as good a job on Cameron.
Have your fun with your Dawson criticisms, but if you watch a little more carefully, you may realise how much he adds to the teams defence.
