TOPIC: Taberner

He didn't run hard to get on the lead and so kept getting stuck one on one under high balls and having his pants pulled down. If he doesn't get perfect delivery on the lead he appeared pretty useless.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

He runs all game, and hits the pack pretty hard when the mark is not an option. A la Pav and Sandi he gets a very raw deal as far as chopping the arms go and also the length of time he has to hold the ball before it is a mark. Sure he is still developing, but so are about 20 - 30 % of the players in the comp. Get off his back and let him do his job which is provide another option besides Pav, provide a running big target, bring the ball to ground if he can't mark it and chuck what weight he has around if things get heavy. He is doing or attempting to do all these things at the moment, and as we get closer to the finals and the weather improves and the grounds get a bit firmer you will see him play a lot more time on ground. He HAS got what it takes. Leave A Pearce where he is doing a good job.

Agreed Rags Pavlich's form seems to have improved with him in the team, will he ever be a first option key forward, not sure. But pretty sure he will be a viable 2nd or 3rd. As for A Pearce looks the goods to replace Mcpharlin will be interested to see what happens when Johnson returns as he deserves his spot

We've got a bloke at 198+cms KPP, who is only 21, and some wants him replaced by a GWS, WA kid. Then there've been others who think blokes like Sheriden and Crozier are not having an impact. Let's be honest, we're just couch experts, who don't get to see what goes on behind closed doors. I like to know, the total number of games played by Tabs, Crozier, Sheriden, A. Pearce, Sutcliffe, Neale, and Walters. That's a third of our 22 and all under 23+. While we're one of the oldest teams in the league, we're fielding a very much inexperienced team compared to Hawks, Sydney and dare I say it, the Eagles. Have you got stats on this, Fredoh.

Yes Jezzah a couple of months ago someone posted an under 25 team that would be very competitive in the open comp. Just because we have a few old but very good players on our list, doesn't mean we are over the hill. Some of the names you mentioned will be very able replacements for Pav, Luke and co. Maybe our biggest problem will be replacing Sandi, but that hardly seems to rate a mention.

Yeah, nah. That under 25's team was ordinary.

Peel are just competitive as it is, so saying an all U/25 team could handle their own I think is wishful thinking.

And this idea that Alex Pearce could be a forward? I highly doubt it, at least with our present way of playing in the forward line. His defensive work is cool and unflustered, which is fantastic - but I can't see that as much of an asset in the forward line.
