TOPIC: Jetta v Yarran

Corporal Agarn Jetta v Yarran 8 years 9 months ago #1

Corporal Agarn
Apparently Leroy Jetta is keen to come back to W.A. next year. We've already mentioned Chris Yarran coming back as well, so who would you take? Jetta you would imagine is going to cost more in terms of trade picks or whatever. Could we get both or is too expensive?
How come no big key position players(that are any good)want to come back home?

You're happy with our small defender's Shane?

I've never rated Jetta as highly as many on here have and with Hill and D Pearce on the outside we don't need him at all. Yarran however would be a massive boost to our backline and I would do that deal in a heartbeat.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Lewis Jetta is putting the feelers out to push the Sydney price up. Given theres not much money left in the coffers I expect him to be elsewhere next year unless he swallows his pride and re-signs at Sydney.
His price will be inflated and I hope we leave him alone to be honest.
Im not convinced Lewis is all that reliable in pressure games and that is an opinion formed not just from watching his Sydney games.

Nope, great fellas (both of them) and wonderful talents - both former Black Ducks.

I'm sitting in the city end looking down Subi Oval towards the west.
On one side, I see Stephen Hill and Danyellering Pearce (both left footers).
On the other side, I see Chris Yarran and Lewey the Jett (both right footers).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my vision always ends with the lot of 'em, and Mike Walters, inside our forward 50.
How can there be anything - absolutely anything - more awe inspiring than that.

Agree Bizkit and Polly. It’s easy to overthink things, but if you put a bunch of the fastest, most skilled footballers on the park, you can figure out the rest. If you plugged him into the role currently played by Sutcliffe / Sheridan, we’d be a 3% better team instantly. In an era of teams ‘chasing that 1%’, you’d be crazy not to look at that upgrade.

I’d prefer Yarran to Jetta, only because in the games I’ve seen Sydney play Jetta doesn’t seem to have the same zip at the moment. Yarran looks pretty disinterested, but I couldn’t really blame him. Years of your team sucking, pretty unfair scrutiny and then having Mick as a coach and using you as a whipping boy would get anyone down. It’s an interesting case study of how Stephen Hill’s career might have gone had he not found himself in a good team (think back to that Leigh Matthews lazy article calling Hill lazy because he couldn’t shake the Brady Rawlings tag).

The Carlton fans I know reckon he’s definitely leaving Carlton, but wants to stay in Melbourne. If I was North, I’d have a look as a replacement for Wells (they lack some leg speed on the outside since Wells was injured). I reckon it would be a really good fit, but they'll probably be spooked by people like Hutchy whacking them with the 'topping up' hammer if they don't win a premiership.

I'm not sure we need either as well. Lewis is fast and skilful but doesn't like getting his hands dirty. Last years gf was a good example when he thought he just had to show up. Yarran is the better player imo but goes missing a fair bit and can appear lazy. Would still probably be worth his spot though. I watched all these guys come through at swans and reckon that we probably got the best two in son-son and Clancee despite them being the lowest draft picks.

Take them both if you can get them, speed and skill are always assets in your team. Maybe Jetta has lost interest at Sydney because he want's to come home and as stated previously, Yarran has been kicked in the bollocks almost as a part of his regular training at Carlton.
I could see Yarran playing a role identical to the mad magician Roger Hayden, and if you had Steven Hill and Lewis Jetta playing on opposite wings I think the spectacular would become a regular occurrence on game day, probably as close as you will see to Phil and Jimmy Kraks in their heyday.
Freo's list moving forward would look pretty good with the addition of a key forward and those two guys. If you can get them for reasonable money then I say go for it.

Yarran, for his size, and stop me if you've heard this before, but for his size, he's a pretty good overhead mark.

I'd have either or both if the price is right. But that's the key though isn't it, what would we give up to get one or both. Would you give up our first pick, first pick plus, future picks, raft of lower picks, a straight swap?
;p
