TOPIC: Pointless

As the injured players come back Soss or Dawson they go straight into the team or one of them anyway. This would allow the ALEX P to go straight to the forward line.Against Carlton would be a good start.I would also like to see a couple of new faces Weller and Grey[gray] perhaps. Why waste time in the 2s with the returning players as it is pointless at this stage of the season.

Alex spent the last qtr forward against the Hawks and while he competed well, wasn't able to have a proper impact. He was often outnumbered as all our forwards tend to be and won't be a saving grace forward unless we change that.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

A. Pearce has played 6 AFL games all in the backline. He's the tall defender we need to groom, an at the moment, he's delivering. Tabener needs to play forward. Freo will play 3 talls, that's our structure. So when and if all of Scos, ZD and Johnno, are available, only one will be picked, if both AA Luke and Pearce are available. I think Mcpharlin would be saved for the finals in the coming weeks.

Think it's been mentioned before but how about put the mercurial Zac D in the forward line. Then we can keep bombing it in long and with his impeccable spoiling skills he can knock it down to Walters to goal. Genius!

Are you kidding me, Clinical?

I am having visions of the spack all alone in the goal square, Mayne passes it to him to get a real gimme and he then fists it away from goals and over the boundary line. Margetts calls deliberate and give the slime a free, 50 meters and reports Mayne for time wasting.

Pointless was what the doctor told Michael Johnson when he asked how he could avoid injuring his shoulder again.

Once Johnno and one of Dawson / SCOS get back in, I think McPharlin needs to go forward.

Before worrying about which player should go forward, shouldn't we be worried about how to get the ball forward?
If we had the best full forward in the league, it wouldn't have changed the fact that we only had 38 i50's vs the Hawks on Sunday (Freo's lowest for 2015). Having the best forwards in the business will mean you get a (slightly) higher goal to i50 conversion rate, but they can't just magically draw the football towards them.

Freo got belted in the midfield and if you watch the replay (with commentators muted), you would realise the umpiring was a major cause of that. Hawthorn does not need biased umpiring to beat Freo, but when that is added to the equation, it's no longer easy for D.Pearce and Fyfe to rack up the i50s that they normally do. Those i50s often come from clearances which often come from Sandiland's hitouts to advantage. That becomes very difficult when Sandilands is being illegally prevented from contesting the ruck ... several times clearly right in front of the controlling field umpire (jumper being pulled, arm held, being blocked, pushed out of the contest from boundary throwin, etc ...).
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

I'm happy to go along with this master plan of deception guile and finals preparation except I don't think any plan would be to:
i. Go to Tassie and get walloped by a dozen goals.
ii. Tell Sonny not to bother with tackling.
iii. Tell Pav not to bother kicking goals - that can come later.
At some point you would like to implement some of the master plan just to see if it would work in a real game. Nothing worked at the weekend.
Maybe it's just a heavy training load confidence dry track get Johnno back umpire bias Tassie trip get Blakley Griffen and trade Hendrix issue or maybe Freo have just lost it.
Time will tell and they are at the right end of the ladder for now.
