After that sort of garbage you start worry about where your next win is going to come from. I'm not positive of beating anybody at the moment with our non existent forward line, poor skills and lack of confidence.

What's with all the doom and gloom. After 14 games, we're 12-2 and still on top. It's the start of July and there's still 8 games left plus finals. We've been favourites for all but today's game going into the weekend. We're in a bit of a rut, but maintaining that form in the first 2 months was always going to be difficult. If you read or listen to the naysayers, you'd think we were Carlton. Wow it'll be a great game next weekend.

True, before we lost to Richmond I honestly thought today was going to be our first loss.
However, I think alot of the doom and gloom comes from watching a team that was 11-1, top of the ladder and 2 games clear, not even show up to a game that could have put doubters to sleep once and for all.

Apart from a few of the players, there was no show of the team from the start of the season.

My only highlight was A Pearce's game. He was fantastic again.

Probably because leading into this game we just got over the line against teams that we were expected to brush past easily so it's like a double whammy in a way.
Hope we find some form soon otherwise it could get ugly really quickly.

Look, if it was any other team but Freo, everyone would have brushed this loss aside. Why? Because of the "nothing in the cupboard" mantra, and its now or never. My point is, today was a non event. There was heat on the Hawks and Sydney, early in the season. Now it's our turn. The budgies, apparently are playing out of their skin, minus 2 quality backs. We're playing minus 3 quality backs, and no one cares. I say bring on the Derby, and watch the budgies get all excited. Since 2012, Rd5, we've won every Derby. And it's Roly's mantra, I won't be losing another Derby on my watch. I'm still on the purple train, jump off if you wish, it's a free world.

Worry of what exactly. Everyone is trying to catch Freo and they still haven't. It's a marathon, if you look at it in a positive way, we lost to a team in Tassie, where its an unbelievable home ground advantage. Oh and they're also back to back premiers. But we are still one game clear at the top. We're injury free, hopefully suspension free and we're still on top. Get my point yet.

No, because in the grand scheme of things, it didn't matter much. Who cares about today's game - it's how we respond between now and finals time that counts. I think we can dig our way out of this rut.

The sun seemed strangely low for that time on a Sunday afternoon. The breeze wasn't strong but it made itself known. Seven , no, eight doves were startled when the St Kilda players entered the ground early. I too was taken by surprise when the pie I bit into was unexpectedly hot. There was a strange stain on the concrete in front of my seat. I'd never seen it before and I never saw it again but it looked remarkably like a young Greg Madigan.

The first goal had the Fremantle supporters excited early but the nerves took over as the quick start stalled. It was a good contest for much of the rest of the day before Fremantle's unrelenting run from half back finally ground the Saints down as they cruised in for a 5 goal win.
