Tackles are nice, but if you're forward you're there to kick goals. I'm still on Ballas to get some form at Peel, especially as there are more ready made replacements to choose from.

Mayne hasn't played a good game in 3 years and I have no idea what his job is.

Ballantyne could benefit from some sort of forward line structure that doesn't involve him having to take pack marks.

Ballantyne could benefit from having a forward structure where he isn't the sole Freo player against 3 opponents....or actually having a forward structure might help. Pav is a shadow of his former great self and not playing a second tall forward makes it easier to identify where the ball is likely to go.

Who is our marking coach? Do we have one? If not, why not?

Don't get me started on bombing high into a gorward line with one tall and no marking power.

Which coach tells them to kick forward straight to opponents in the clear or handball to a guy about to be tackled or miss a target from 25 meters under no pressure. Which ever coach it is, somebody needs to push him under a bus.

I'm even concerned about about beating Carlton next week the way we are playing right now

Tend to agree with Shane. I am a massive Mayne fan but you need to hit the scoreboard, he is not doing it and Ballas is working harder and noticeable as putting his body on the line.

It's the way it's coming into the forward line. When all they do is bomb it or kick into space, you make life hard for a bloke who's job it is to mark, and the two who 's job is it to crumb. Instead you give the defenders an better than even chance of helping you butcher it. They've been good at that.

Simple fact is that a successful forward line has at least 2 tall options we have one. If Taberner isnt ready this season then hurry up Dawson or Silvagne so we can loose Pearce into the forward line he is highly skilled and would immediately take pressure off Pav and Mayne. If all this still fails then Plan C has to be Fyfe to CHF.

The problem lies either in the midfield or the forward line, maybe a combination of both.

For starters, I dont see many big leads from out forwards, all I see is the midfielders kick to one huge pack. Either the forwards have decided they are going to play professional king of the pack or just lazy..

Option 2 is the midfield delivery of the pill. Get rid of the pitcking wedges and deliver it in quicker.. But hey, the probably could if there was a lead.

So we need to open up the forward line, in order to do so the ball needs to be delivered quicker so teams cant get extra people back to clog things.

What ever structural issues there are, aren't being helped by Ballantyne's lack of touch. He's missing goals he would otherwise get 9 times out of 10, fumbling and losing his feet far too often and making frequent judgement errors. I reckon a few weeks at the lower level could give him the room to get his spark back.
