We missed Crowley. Not 72 points worth, but he would have been important

I) the best ruck man in the comp doesn't help you much when he is illegally kept out of the ruck.
ii) Fyfe as a forward won't help when Hodge can push him out of a marking contest with the ball mid flight.
iii) Rosebury is the go to umpire for the critical VFL matches.
iv) I have a tendency to lie, I didn't really learn anything this round ... Oh hang on, Mzungu is not the player I thought he was (very disappointing defensive work).
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

Rolly has always said we are a blue collar team. Our desire and effort are second to none. In most situations that immense effort with some of our skilled players gets us across the line. However when we play a skilled side who has the same or similar desire we come up short. Our hand and foot skills are not elite and have never been. It does not mean we don't have those players just not across every line and in the same numbers as some other teams. There were many fumbles yesterday ( yes under pressure) but some not , Sandi gets hit in the head when trying to take a mark , Mzungu ( who played well) missed targets and fumbled balls. This happened time and time again. Then to see Mcevoy have such an impact on the game and even spangher looked skilled!!! We need to start recruiting talls higher up the draft and in more numbers than simply trying to jag them through the rookie draft.

I was watching longingly when the Hawks had set shots at goal. I don't think they missed many, if any.

Why can't we have reliable skills like that?

i) Thank God it's only round 15...
ii) To exceeds' point about the fact that "our hand and foot skills are not elite and have never been", grab a hold of the Derby and the game vs the Swans, and re-watch the first halves of those games. Our skills, ball movement and decision making were very much in the elite category IMO, which makes it somewhat disconcerting how far we have fallen away from those lofty highs...
iii) Will be barracking hard for the Pies, Swans and the Hawks to put the slime in their place over the next few weeks, because their fans have simply become intolerable, far too cocky for my liking...

I) opposition teams have learnt that they CAN hold Fyfe before he gets hold of the contested ball, and this makes it much harder for Fyfe to break the packs the way he was earlier in the year.
ii) opposition teams have learnt that they CAN use illegal and reportable tactics to antagonise Fyfe and not be penalised for it.
iii) opposition teams have learnt that they CAN hold Hill before he receives the ball outside the pack, making it hard for him to run the lines the way he was earlier in the year.
iv) Freo are dumb because they are not doing all of the above to opposition teams... oh yes, I forgot, they are, but they are not getting away with it.
v) I do not believe the Freo coaching staff have shown all their cards at this stage of the year. Who was the last premiership side that was dominating the competition in june/july?

Almost all of them Raglan, they all tend to finish top 2 as well.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

(i) The band wagon is a lot more spacious when all the pea-hearted wee jessies stampede for the door at the first speed-bump.
(ii) When playing a team with the cleanest hands in close (daylight second), not every ruck tap from the unbeatable ruckman should be directed straight down, no more than 50cm away.
(iii) We have played every other top four team for two wins and a loss. Every other top four team has lost at least one game against another top four team.
(iv) Breathe. We'll be OK.

Totally agree Cis4, fair weather supporters put up your umbrellas and go stand elsewhere until the sun comes out again. It is easy to support winners, just look to Richmond or Melbourne supporters for example. It's when the team is in this situation they need support, not kicks in the guts. I have learned this round it ain't easy being purple.

I learned that hawthorn have an excellent game plan that mesmerizes Fremantle. In particular they know without looking that when they get hold of the ball in center congestion that a running half forward player wiil be ten yards clear out on the wing and kick to that position.

They also know that in congestion close to their goals to kick away from the goals because a center or back line player will be streaming forward to receive the ball. They also know he probably will not miss the goal.

We on the other hand had too many players caught up in tackling as free Hawthorn players were running past to receive the throw, sorry handball .

I also think we lost the game at half forward where every in ball had half the both teams at the drop. there were no spaces to run into for the key forwards.

Put Fyfe on the wing out wide where the pre holding becomes more noticeable rather than as a pack smasher. Give the smash role to Mundy and bring in Blakely as support.

Pray for Johnson's swift return and put the Fist up forward when he returns.
Play an extra player or two on the field and pay the umpires.
