I learnt something about the coach appearing to want to have a crack at this weeks out, appearing to be disappointed at what looked like a limp crack at 1/4 time and then considering the value of taking your best team, according to some, all the way over for one of the longest away trips there is to a freezer pit only an hour away from the oppo's home ground and watching them fall a long way short of the mark, in front of the whole football world and the attention and hype that that generates and reflecting on what that might mean in the context of a season with 8 weeks left in it and no chance of meeting that team again until the big furry things of spring have really big furry things all over them.

Right again Hypen, watch Fyfe and co get sucked in to Sandis feet, watch Mitchell stay wide and if we win it its all congested, if they win it they feed out wide to Mitchell who delivers meticulously. Happens every match even the ones we win. Ultimately its poor coaching actually. Today was so obvious, im hoping Roly can finally address it.

Ballas is definitely a dry weather player. In wet or greasy conditions he either slips over (again) or is smashed by bigger bodies. I hate to say it, but his small frame does not stand up to the rolling maul that is AFL footy at the moment. He is like a little kid playing in the U-17's, it might not be fair or just, it's just a fact. We need men with muscle, not twisty-turny bulldust.

You don't see him gang tackling 2 blokes by himself then, and then getting up and taking on the third one who's got the ball?

Thought not.

I'm not questioning his courage, just his size (and choice of boots). In the wet and greasy conditions of the last 5 matches you need muscle. Today you could have had Puopolo or Ballas to pick from. Check the stats. You can't beat physics when their skill levels are similar. Pitbull vs (courageous) Poodle. Who wins?

So I learnt that Collingwood, Carlton, Melbourne and Essendon have never played at Aurora. Geelong, Richmond, GWS and Sydney once.

Also that after round 15 in 2013 we were 5th on 42 points and 125.9. And in 2014 we were 4th on 40 points and 132. And now? 1st on 48 points and 125.5.

I also realised that the higher the ladder position, the greater the expectation. So even when you know you should lose a game, you're gutted you lost the game.

Sign the ANZAC Museum as a Freo sponsor.

Next time Hawthorn play in WA, move the game to Albany.

I had my thoughts from the last few weeks (since Richmond) confirmed: we've got too many inside players. Or too many playing inside at any given stoppage.

Far too frequently at stoppages, we've got two in on one (sometimes three on one) while the opposition ring around the outside waiting to shark the handball out.

Sell the farm. It's going to be another drought year. Probably need to sell some stock to keep head above water (appropriate metaphor?). Tractor has too many worn out parts. Seeding plan clearly needs revising for the coming season. The farm next door is in line for a bumper year.Derby flogging on the horizon. Press to ramp up the recriminations.

i) Alex Pearce is a champ.
ii) Glad I'm a Freo fan, great club, love the boys.
iii) Sirens' events are awesome - even when we lose.
iv) We're still number one.
v) Baz and Den are third rate commentators and I have no idea why they commentate on our games. Baz talking up WC for the Derby was a pain.
vi) It might be a good idea to get Sandi to tap it out of the pack instead of to the feet of ten players.
vii) It might be another good idea to get Sandi to kick it instead of handballing it to someone with a guy already wrapped around him.
viii) Could someone verify that we actually got awarded 12 free kicks because it sure didn't seem like it?
ix) The umpires continue to be rubbish and no-one holds them to account. Soft frees, play on calls.
x) I miss MJ.
