Just an interesting observation on the game, the hawks are good (or cheating) when standing the mark. A second team mate stands on the side, half way between the mark and player with the ball. As soon as the ball player starts moving and the ump calls play on, the man from the side is on him real quick. If the player on the mark got that close it would be a free for coming over the mark too quickly.

I really hate how when we won our close game over the Pies we were (according to the commentary team) "thoroughly unconvincing, but this week when the Hawks played a very similar game " the good teams just find a way don't they?" Makes my blood boil, if there is one game (barring the GF of course) where our boys click and get it all together for a game over four quarters, I hope it is this Saturday in Tassie.

rogerrocks, the problem is that umpires now tend to call play on after a very short time (unless player is having a set shot) or as soon as a player starts to kick over the man on the mark, often even when they do not even move off their line.
I have seen several times now when as Grick describes, the Hawthorn player comes in from the side to tackle when the opposition player is simply taking their legitimate kick.
Hawthorn did this quite a few times against Essendon a couple of weeks ago. On one occasion the ump pulled them up on it and gave 50m, but most of the time, it pressured the kicker and led to turnovers.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.
