I assume Tendai, Matt and Paul are on an extended bench (it's a Sunday game) rather than listed as emergencies. N'est-ce pas?

When to see Sheedy talk several weeks back at the East Perth Footy club.
In question time he was asked on his thoughts about Ross Lyon.
He simply responded ( i think tongue in cheek) how many premierships had he won. He said nothing more.
I am a big Ross Lyon fan and yes am glad he is at Freo. Will always keep Freo competitive but I think he lacks the creative flair to get us a premiership. Pigeon holes players and persists with his favorites. Having said that he has been our best coach so far and we are 11 and 1. He has put together a competitive team despite in the main substandard recruiting ( compared to other elite side) so is working wonders with a list with glaring holes.
Can we kick enough goals to win a premiership against Hawthorn , Sydney or even West coast, time will tell.

Mate, you're all over the place.

First GF in club history... check.

11-1, shortly to be 12-1... check.

What do you want exactly? For success to be already in the bag (as per Sheedy's Westcoastesque nonsense)?

The last time we have played Hawthorn, Sydney & The Slime we have kept them to 91, 60 & 81 points (respectively) and won all three games.
In 2013, if we had have kicked 12 goals in each of our 3 finals that would have been enough to win the premiership.

So yes Fremantle can kick enough goals ... by making sure their opposition don't kick enough.

Pretty sure you have that backwards Exceed, RL has inherited two impressive and talented lists and never had to rebuild or start from the bottom like most coaches. He's had premiership sides handed to him and is yet to make it a reality.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

So what you're saying Bizkit is that Harvey would have won us a premiership or two by now. I guess we'll never know. What I do know though is that I got to experience a GF in 2013 watching my team play. And since 2012, I've been invested in the finals because my team was participating. So in the 21 years of our existence, the last 3 and a half yearshas been the most enjoyable. As it stands, there's more enjoyment to be had and I hope I get to experience another GF and whether we win or not, I'll be thanking Roly for the experience.

I won't take this Lyon down either. As the boss has said, we are a blue collar team. Meaning, I guess, we only have two or three superstars and the rest are just honest journeymen. The test is: who would we rather have as a coach if Ross wasn't around? Worsfold, Sumich, Clarkson? They wouldn't get close to Lyon's achievements here. Sign him up for another three years before he gets itchy feet, find a gun full forward and I guarantee we'll be hiring another cleaner to keep a couple of mugs sparkling on the mantelpiece.

Bizkit, I reckon at best he's had Prelim / Grand Final sides handed to him. I don't think there is any shame in any of the GF losses, and none of his GF teams have started favourites. Collingwood, Geelong, and the Hawks were better teams. Still, he got within a luckly bounce and some straight kicking away from snagging a couple of premierships.

Even this year, on paper, the Hawks, and maybe Sydney still have a better team. Or, put another way, would Matt Taberner get a game for those teams? If we want to talk about firepower, I think that is the more pertinent point.

When Ross ahs been the coach of Freo for 40 years then we can judge him against Sheedy. Ross has been a senior coach for seven and a half seasons and played in four GF's. He will have the ultimate success as will Freo.

The young guys on our list are earning their spot in the team as well as perfecting the game plan. Lachei Neil went through the same process and it has payed dividends as he has not looked back.

Stable teams win GF's and at 11 and 1 we are looking fairly solid. Their is no shame in winning a close game in bad conditions, the commentators on Fox noted that we struggled when the ground was a bit damp. Did they even see the games against Adelaide and GCS? I was about to look up the part in the good book that references the building of Arks.
Give me an ugly, horrible, nasty win over a super, sexy, gallant loss every time.

This whole myth about Ross Lyon being handed a premiership team ...
In 2004 St Kilda won 17 games, in 2005 they won 15 games, in 2006 14 wins.
Ross took over in 2007. In 2010 they missed the premiership by 1 point (the draw v Collingwood).
Ross brought some of the following in to that 2010 side that had played 0 games for St Kilda in 2006; Zac Dawson (in 2009), Michael Gardiner (2008), Clinton Jones (2007), Brett Peake (2010), Adam Schneider (2008), Farren Ray (2009), Sean Dempster (2008), Robert Eddy (2008).
He was missing from the 2006 team the likes of; Luke Ball, Aaron Fiora, Fraser Gehrig, Aaron Hamill, Robert Harvey, Brett Voss.

I'm not sure just how many people who repeat that Ross inherited a premiership list, actually have done any research themselves.

DK, when looking for ammunition to support an argument it might be wise not to include Brett Peake and Robert Eddy. Just sayin'.

Personally I do Jezza and I was ecstatic after the 2010 season with the abundance of young talented kids and the way Harvs allowed them to show it off and take on the game. We were the originators of always attacking the bloke with the footy and forward pressure with Chopper, Ballas, Dutchy and Mora leading the way. We'll never know the answer though but I did rate Harvs highly and our squad very highly.

I would disagree Morgan, as DK pointed out for me, the Saints were an incredibly talented side who was consistently playing well before Lyon got the reigns. They were full of high draft picks and had the second best midfield to the Cats but much better KP talent to top it off, any coaching style would've been effective with the cattle at hand. He didn't have to do a lot to get them in position for a premiership.

As for RL I have plenty of gripes about the way he coaches and his lack of flexibility at selection, player positions or tactics but I do hope he gets us a premiership and Freo succeed. However I'm not going to blindly back every decision he makes and defend him regardless of how bad or poor it may be. I'll call him out on his mistakes as that's what sites like this are for, chatting about the team we love and voicing our opinions! I'm not a fan of the blind faith so many seem to place in RL, he is fallible like everyone else.

Adam simpson is an interesting point. I recall how many dockerland fans rated the Eagles so so poorly. Yes we beat them in round 3, the next game will be interesting.

Here you have an untried coach who apparently inherited a basket case by some experts. Yet they probably have the second most potent forward line in the comp . Masten who has often been ridiculed has turned himself around.

Has he done a better job than RL so far?
My personal opinion is that RL has done a better job as the Eagles have more over all talent and better balanced list. The eagles would be unbeatable with RL as their coach.

I don't know if Lyon is a good enough coach to stamp out the culture of drug dealing arsonists they tend to breed down there.
