We've picked up neon Leon Kickett in the rookie draft who was building quite the highlights reel at Swan Districts colts this season. He has a lot of Shai Bolton about him as a quick small forward with clean hands, party tricks galore and loves to go for a fly over the top of a pack. An incredibly exciting and raw pick up, he could be anything with the right work ethic.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

3 picks, 3 small forwards. Last year we got Duds, Bolton and Reid.

Going to be interesting to see how the game plan develops from here and how the midfield rotations are going to work with players like Bolton and Reid spending time in there.

Adding goal kicking talent can only be a good thing in the short term, although it does feel like we're placing a pretty big bet on our key mids and big men to stay healthy.

There's certainly raw elite talent here in those highlights. His ability to gather at speed and gap opponents is already AFL-ready. As is his ability to close space to apply tackles, which admittedly will be stronger with time. That's a lot to start with. All in front of him.

I have been a big wrap for Leon since noticing him earlier in the year watching a mates son play colts at SD.
Hes a excitement machine alright.
I actually put his name up a while back as someone worth keeping an eye on as he has some unbelievable traits.

One thing that did bother me recently was in a semi final vs WP - SD were well on top after being a few goals down in the 2nd qtr to really dominate the game and third term. He was going well and running into a open goal to put SD nearly 4 goals up. He unbelievably and inexcuseably showed the ball to his opponent as he kicked it from point blank range and was shoved to the ground behind the goals afterwards. It should have been a free but I suspect the Umps didnt pay it as it was so blatantly stupid and insulting to WP.
The game changed after that. A few WP boys came in to remonstrate and from there on SD didnt kick another goal with WP running away to win and Leon not touching the ball again.
It wasnt even mentioned after the game by the coaching staff so it was a disappointing way to finish the year for him and I hope he has learned from it.
