Remember when the rules were written to favour the player going for the ball, perhaps its a sign of the times with concussions looming over the league, but it seems those days are long gone in the name of making the game faster. Yet most of us will remember those players who could burst through packs, dislodge a tackler or two (or three) and manage to get the ball out. That had all but disappeared from the game, and pretty soon, if not already it will be more advantageous to be the second person to the ball. The hands in the back adjudications at times this year were clearly favouring the player too slow or less athletic. Just shove the other guy out the way and play on, nothing to see here.
Is the game better as a result? I guess it doesn't matter as long as the fans keep showing up and forking out their cash to watch.
