I think Noddy is missing Roly. His bromance is showing.

What I’m missing like many who sit around me at games at Optus, is winning a few games convincingly, playing in finals and winning a few. How many years are we into Longmuir’s turn ? Sure we’ve won six in a row, including against North, Essendon and the Saints who apparently are coached by a crab who happened to coach Freo over its most successful time as a club. If Fyfe likes Lyon as a former coach, that’ll do for me.

From here to the end of the season is going to be interesting to watch play out.

As an aside, if Lyon quit coaching he’d be a walk up start on a Main Roads work gang. A bit of Fluro gear and a stop/ go sign and he’d fit straight in.

Yeah, Noddy, but I'd hate to be first in line behind his stop sign, he'd be leanin' on your door sill giving you a 2 hour lecture about the journey being behind the destination, it's better to journey than arrive, how to plumb your toilet, and what to do when your blunny sole peels back. Then spend 30 minutes deciding whether to turn the sign to the left or to the right.

We would all get out and walk.

Brisbane haven't been winning convincingly.

Collingwood and Geelong weren't convincing in beating the bottom side.

Port have been up and down all year after playing finals last year.

Carlton have been terrible after being expected to play finals.

Sydney played in the GF last year and don't look like making the finals at all.

Since Roly returned St Kilda have finished 6th, then 12th and currently 15th.

And the fact that a player says they like an ex coach apparently is good enough to make him great is strange. Cripps has said he likes Voss. Is that good enough for him to keep his job? Clarkson had huge success at Hawthorn with plenty of plaudits from ex players. Hasn't helped him find success at NM though.

Like I said CA, we are possibly in second spot by Sunday night if results, as you have shown in your post, go our way.

Saint Kilda pushed their high forwards up onto the ball. Collingwood had trouble against it the week before. Just the nature of the way Lyon has his team play a season to me is not sustainable. But it can be very effective on any given week. It's just not a winning brand over a season. Watch them flame out again soon.

For the past ten seasons of Lyons coaching except for that one season where Saints made a final his teams have finished no better than 13th I reckon. It's some record.

Hypen, 2 years ago 6th, last year 12th, this year probably 15th or 16th. Remember Terry Wallace, got Bulldogs to a few finals series, but they always ran out of petrol before the prelims. Same reason, unsustainable over physical scragging game plan.

I’ve hit a brick wall on debating success but a bit of factual insight in the attached. We finished 5th 3 years ago, then 14th and last year 10th, if I’m reading them correctly. Prior to ‘22 when we finished 5th we went from 14th to 11th over four years

Corporal Agarn, agreeing with you...

With the hegemony associated with Clarkson's years at Hawthorn, might I ask you to look at the squad he had in those days. Is Clarkson a good coach? Yes. Is he better than all the rest? No.

I suggest that if Clarkson was in charge of Carlton, the Blues would be exactly in the same predicament as they are today.

Mythology can be built on good luck.

I wonder if Brad Scott coached Geelong and Chris coached Norf, would the outcomes be the same?

Yes you can always find tables and stats. Under Lyon with a great squad he took over from Harvey, at the end of the home and away season, we finished.... 2012-7th, 2013-3rd, 2014-4th, 2015-1st, 2016-16th, 2017-14th, 2018-14th, 2019-13th.

The 2015-2016 drop was the biggest in AFL history.

Yes. As I shake my head at Lyon's 2016 preseason comment about how relaxed he was, and how he didn't see us falling off a cliff or anything.
