That era, in Victoria, SA, and WA was the most entertaining footy of all time, a decade later we had coaches who had to totally control the game and things changed. One incident always comes to mind when I think of the changes in footy post mid eighties.
Imagine what a coach would say these days if a player who missed a goal and scored a point to draw the game after being pushed in the back, said " I will take the free kick to kick the goal for the win" and then missed everything for a miss and lose the game by a point.
