I genuinely felt sorry for West Coast yesterday. They had a chance to win a quarter of footy in the 3rd term, but a goal in extra time denied them. So they lost another 4 quarters.
And Oscar Allen looked very unhappy, which I wasn't happy about. There are players (James Sicily, for example), whose unhappiness gives me joy, but Allen is not one of those.
The seeds of WC's undoing were sown in the Tim Kelly trade. But the problem with retaining Victorian players (or having to pay too much to get them back) is one we share with WC. By all means gloat over their misfortune, but we should work constructively with them to make sure that both WA sides get a better deal from the AFL.
