The Fremantle Dockers are inviting passionate members to nominate for our 2025 & 2026 Member Advisory Forum, an initiative designed to broaden member input and involvement with the Club’s operations. The Member Advisory Forum is integral to innovating and optimising our fan experience across projects that include but are not limited to:
• Membership products
• Game day experiences
• Memberships packs
Members will be selected from a cross-section of our membership base, ensuring representation across different membership categories, tenure, demographics, and ages.

To be eligible, candidates must be:
• 18 years or older.
• A current financial member of the Fremantle Dockers.
• Able to attend Member Advisory Forum meetings in Perth, throughout 2025 and 2026.
The 2025/26 MAF Forum will consist of four sessions:
• 2 x mid-season workshop (July 2025 & 2026).
• 2 x Q&A session in December (held immediately before the Club's Annual Members Meeting in December 2025 & 2026).
If you have the passion to provide input and feedback to the Club, we encourage you to apply.

The thing about an advisory forum is that once you have it explained to you just why things are the way they are, it will all make sense. You might not like it, but it will make sense. For example, the shouty man is something that raises money to pay for the stadium. When you looked at the price of the stadium and thought, "How the hell can the membership fees from WC and Freo members come even close to covering that?", the answer was that they had to think of other ways to make money, and shouty man is one of them.

I remember when the club actually cared about member input and we were able to nominate representatives for positions on the board. Then the club put their own patsies in as 'members' which were just former players that could easily have taken one of the regular board positions. Then the club used that as an excuse to remove the member positions completely and remove any voice we have.

That was a wild time seeing the Fremantle removed from the club. These advisory things tend to be more about placating the member base than any actual progression and member action.

If I was ever asked (won’t happen), I’d tell the board this:

1. No more Ticketmaster intervening uninvited between members and club we pay fees to. I hate the b@st@rds.

2. Having a Shouty Man announcer is questionable in itself, but does it have to be soooo LOUD and the mindless patter so obviously pitched towards slow-thinking 5 year olds?

3. Quarter time, half time and three quarter time “entertainment”. Just stop it. Stop it all.

4. Would it kill the stadium management to open the gates a bit earlier than an hour or so before the game? The queuing is unnecessary and avoidable.

5. No more concerts over summer, just before the season starts, that ruin the playing surface. Members don’t pay good money to see footy played on a sub-standard oval. I don’t care if they do make money - that’s never passed on to members, is it?

6. Back to (1.) - kick Ticketmaster into touch. No more electronic ticketing. Bring back the actual, physical members card and the lanyard.


* One last item - memo to coaching staff : tell players “see goals, kick ball”. Stop the sideways b#ggering around.
