Midday Sunday - forecast max of 33. I guess the AFL thinks we just love playing in the heat.

it's all OK though, as the AFL Heat Policy will be in effect.

I'm a bit concerned that Switta is being talked about as being bought straight into the lineup, probably at the expense of Dudley. They are both pressure forwards but Dudley does one thing that Switta doesn't and that is kick goals. He should come back through the WAFL and earn his spot.

It’s hard to know who loves Switta more, out of the Freo coaching staff, Gerard Healy or Champion Data. He’s a pressure machine, and is good for almost a goal a game despite playing for bursts in the midfield and only capable of kicking 38 metres.

I think he’s an automatic inclusion, but my preference would be for Banfield than Dudley.

I thought most clubs had a policy along the lines of "if you would have been retaining your spot when you got injured, you'll be straight back in subject to conditioning".

It gives the player license not to worry about risking themselves during play and incentive to do rehab properly.

I'm pretty sure it was Peter Bell that explained it a few years ago, or maybe it was Lloyd. I might have it wrong.

On Dudley, I fear he might be causing Son Son's spot to be at risk rather than Switta.

Switta is very important to us. He's a good swap for Banfield, mind you Banfield does compete well in the air...

I think that has been our problem, players like Switta are automatic inclusions. He's ok but he is no rock star. Another toiler type player but we have better options now. In the end goals win games and Switta doesn't kick enough of them to justify "auto inclusion".

Dudley should start with Swita as sub, that way both get a chance to shine. Banfield seems to do some clever things linking up play...

Is Bailey Banfield the best career 22nd man in AFL history?

Fortunately for Bailey there are 23 players in the gameday squad. He hits the scoreboard and helps the defence in the 4th quarter so keeps his spot as a utility in front of Aish.

Fairly straightforward changes this week:
Jackson --> Darcy
Wagner --> Worner
O'Driscoll --> Young
Sub --> Brodie or Simpson

I see that as a sledge for the individual, nothing to do with his team mates.

Apparently Brodie is injured and Luke Ryan was on light duties at training which may explain the selection of Oscar McDonald on the extended interchange bench. I'd say Dudley is headed for the sub role but that's not a choice I agree with. His pace, poise, pressure and goalscoring potential in his 2 games warrants a spot in the starting lineup and Switta should get the sub's vest. If it was good enough for Fyfe last season then I think Switta can play the role as well.

I must be living in some bizzaro world and not watching this reality of Fremantle games.

Swita is one of the most important players in the side , not only as a pressure forward but as a mid and get out kick player. An absolute no brainer walk up start.

Yea he needs to be more selfish in front of goals but absolutely critical to our team!

Very similar pressure to that applied by Dudley and Banfield, except they kick more goals.
