Well what a great personal experince ,the club always does these things very well.
Even though it was a long long day 4.30am start to get to the dawn service, and home after the game by about 10pm,so proud to have been there.
We assembled outside bay b ,for a brief rundown of what was going to go on .like no phones etc,but managed to get a couple of shots in.
There were sangas ,hot stuff, plenty of drinks,non alchoholic of course ,waiting inside this large room ,only bloody trouble it was the mob up the roads warm up area ,blue and gold everywhere ,shit.
So with a more detailed description of the event,and we were put in groups of four,bloody army influence cannot get away from it ,like dont move out of this group stay together.
Anyway we move out for the first lap ,and like the 30 year one it's amazing to walk aroundan get lots of cheers ,and people taking photos,unreal.
Back into that dreaded room to wait for the final move out to stand with the players,being group 1 i'm thinking please please le it be on our side not the bloody crows so out we go ,my bloody luck mate who will toss the coin is the first out in our group ,so we line uip AND YES WE ARE ON OUR SIDE ,PLAYERS ARE DOING THE WARM UPS.
SO MOST OF THE CLUB WORKERS START MOVING OFF AND WE KNOW THE PLAYERS WILL JOIN US ,AND GUESS WHO MAKES A BEELINE TO ME NON OTHER THAN ANDY ,YOU BLOODY BEAUTY I THINK .HI MY NAME IS ANDY BRAYSHAW ,I THINK YEH I KNOW THAT,AND THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR US ALL,WOW ,THANK YOU MATE AND HAVE A GREAT GAME ,MUST HAVE BEEN MY INSPIRATION TO GET HIM TO DO THAT SORT FO PERFORMANCE HA HA .
SO cHAPPIE GETS NEXT TO ME ON MY Left ,g'day mate i say he says g'day john ,i say how did you know my name he said just a guess,?ya what .Anyway i said how are you feeling after the late pull out last week he said all good just one of those bugs ,i said well hope it wasnt coming out of both holes he laughed no thank god.more laughs.
Then the presentations ,and a last good luck shook Jye's hand as well and they were gone.
Then the coach walks the line to shake everyone's and saying thank for your service ,i said have a great game ,then we march or more a slow walk off,and it's history.
A night i will never forget
