It has always intrigued me why players turn and run to the bench immediately after kicking a goal. The fact that Reid was out there to kick four in a burst perhaps says that the planning committee didn't think to tell him pre match that he needs to clear out and let someone fumble the next opportunity.

The AFL and teams should be based in Canberra. Very few AFL fans can work out what the current rules/policy are, team selections are often baffling, and how obvious problems are overlooked and decisions are made or not made.

Reid’s goals were the highlight of a forgetful game.

Every player has a pre determined time they leave the ground. Plus or minus one minute from your "off time"; if a goal is kicked, you come off - cause its hard to engineer in general play. It has to be then, when else can you do it? On a lead and you pull out of that lead cause it's the 14 minute mark and you should be off! The four blokes within a minute of their pre determined time will run off when a goal is kicked. 20% of the time that includes the goal kicker.

We sat on the wing on the outer for the Alice game against Melbourne last year. Sharp is a machine.

For what it's worth, I think teams should be limited to making substitutions after goals. One day a bloke is going to be seriously injured by a guy he didn't see coming sneaking off the bench. It would also add a natural cap to rotations.
