My main gripe is that Geebung tended not to get pinged for incorrect disposal, but we did.

Not making excuses for the result but that was the worst I've seen for a while, particularly the holding the ball interpretation, I think it was 8 to Geelong, some of which directly resulted in goals and maybe 1 to us despite the fact they were frequently caught with the ball. Also the Jeremy Cameron mark in the goalsquare after the the ball was kicked straight up in the air and probably not exceeding 10 metres in distance despite Caleb Serong offering the ump the uses of his tape measure he kept in his back pocket.. Also a goal

I certainly thought it was against us in the first quarter. Gifted them 2-3 of their 5 goals with dodgy calls. As mentioned, htb was the main one. We were caught with it a few times legitimately, but the rest were bad calls, e.g. Dangerfield (one for and one not called against, both wrong) and Reidy in the middled with no prior, no arms free and trying to release. The 50 that gave Smith his goal was also questionable, was hit ~in the contest.

They evened things up with a few friendly calls in the fourth quarter once the game was out of reach, to make the numbers look closer.

And what's with the 'not 15' only being called against one team?

In a very one sided game like we saw yesterday, umpiring decisions usually go in favour of the team on top. They’re first to the ball, putting on more pressure, tackling harder etc.

Perhaps the game only became one-sided after the umpires decided to be one-eyed early in the first quarter? It certainly helped Geelong that they weren’t being held to the same standard as Freo.

That wasn't necessarily true in the first quarter though shady. The Geelong pressure then was exceptional but I think we earnt at least a few holding the ball decisions whilst some paid against us were very harsh.
Also a very soft free for front on contact against us and then a few minutes later Pearce goes for a mark and the Geelong guy comes through and front on barrels him with no free, from memory I think the ball spilt free for a Geelong goal
