I understood the thinking to be the AFL had a captive market in the north-east on this week. Its a big comprise of your competition to fire the starters gun early for eight of the eighteen teams, particularly when you consider all the other equalisation policies in place. But it was framed as a huge development opportunity for AFL.
I watched heaps of NRL and Townsville was playing yesterday. So cancellations aside, I dont get what they were trying to achieve in the first place.
Last year there was no NRL during round zero.
