Went down there today for the first time since the old premises was demolished.
I had driven past a few times, but as i got a phone call from Bob Uitenbrooke , to come and collect the plaques, bearing ,my Dad's my Mums and my name ,these were originally plated onto one brick each inside the old function rooms, and were still there up until it all went.
I was surprised they were still there ,they come without the brick attatched ,would have been nice to have a brick as a rememberance, there's nothing else left at all ,plenty of memorabillia, and yes plenty of Premiership cups too!!.
Bob gave me and the missus a tour, and before i forget just by chance he had raffle tickets on his desk,so yeh i bought a book10 tickets at $5 each.First problem he said was we wanted 800 seats in the main pavillion, they got 400,so if you are a memeber then get in early to book your seat, great views .
They are still negotiating with the council re money coming in from the sales of the cafe and bar, nice collection of beers on tap,the members area facing the oval is around the half forward flank,.the synthetic bowling greens are next door.
Anyone can visit anytime even if you are not a member, match days are going to be restricted access.
Funny as you walk into the cafe and bar there are three shark fins sticking out of the ground er obviously not the real thing,,the sign with the sharks name is an ongoing thing with the council, but bob is confident it will be there. If you are an East Freo member or supporter then it's worth going to have a look ,we did not have lunch but the food looked good too.
Also across the ground there is an area fenced off, back in the ol days it would have been for bulldogs supporters for a Derby, but this area is about 100 mtrs by 50,just for dogs and owners ,while we were there half a dozen dogs were being walked in the enclosure.
